Every year July 22 is celebrated as World Brain Day. The day will see the World Federation of Neurology (WFN) partnering with the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society to commemorate the 6th Annual World Brain Day. The day is dedicated to the most vital organ in our body that controls life. 2020 will see World Brain Day dedicated to raising awareness for Parkinson's Disease which is a neurodegenerative brain disease that affects various aspects of brain function thoroughly. World Brain Day History

The history dates back to July 22, 1957, when The World Federation of Neurology was established and the suggestion was made by the Public Awareness and Advocacy Committee that 22 July 2014 must be celebrated as “World Brain Day”. The announced was made at WCN in a Council of Delegates meeting on 22 September, 2013 and it was early accepted by the delegates.

World Brain Day Theme and Significance

The message that will act as a theme for World Brain Day 2020 is “Move Together to End Parkinson’s Disease” as the main focus will be Parkinson's Disease this year. The idea is to generate awareness "through mainstream media, social media platforms, and local, regional, national, and international meetings throughout the year," as per reports.

As per wfneurology.org, "the main objective of this day of the brain is to increase public awareness and promote advocacy related to brain health." According to the website, the theme for this year’s campaign is “our brain, our future”.
