According to reports, the incident took place on Friday when locals spotted a red TUV car parked in a narrow lane with its windows blacked out from the inside. As word spread that the couple inside the vehicle was in a compromising position, residents gathered around the car and knocked on the doors, asking the occupants to come out. Instead of complying, the young man inside the car sped forward in an attempt to escape, nearly hitting the people who had gathered around the vehicle. He then reversed the car at high speed and fled the scene. In a bid to stop the car, one local resident threw a stone at the vehicle, but the couple managed to escape. Locals narrowly avoided being run over during the chaotic escape. The video, shot by bystanders, went viral on social media the following day - Saturday - prompting police to launch an investigation. Kotwali in-charge Ramfal Singh confirmed that the matter had been investigated and that the car is registered in the name of a Delhi resident. He added that no written complaint has been received in connection with the incident and that action will be taken after a thorough investigation.
Police are currently verifying the details and tracing the occupants of the vehicle.
