In a recent interview, Vidya Balan stated that she has observed people in India embracing ideas for their convenience at a superficial level, which contributes to increased polarisation in society.
Vidya Balan, in a recent interview with Samdish in Unfiltered, said that India has become "more polarised" regarding religion. She noted a shift in the country's identity, attributing it partly to politics and social media. The actress added, "We did not have a religious identity before but now I don’t know why... It’s not just politics, it is also social media because we are all lost in this world and looking for an identity, which we don’t have organically, we are looking for things to attach ourselves to." She also highlighted the increasing polarisation in society as a result of a desire for belonging. Balan also stresses the importance of fostering deeper connections to effectively tackle this societal issue.
