Varshangalkku Shesham: Producer Visakh Subramaniam Demanded Rs 15 Crore to Sell Tamil Nadu Rights, Claims Distributor; Also Called His Film ‘Better Than Manjummel Boys’ (Watch Video)
Directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan, Varshangalkku Shesham had Pranav Mohanlal and Dhyan Sreenivasan in the lead, along with an ensemble cast including Nivin Pauly, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Basil Joseph, and Neeraj Madhav. Released during Vishu 2024, the film did good business in Kerala and overseas, but lost the race to Fahadh Faasil's Aavesham.
A recent interview featuring G Dhananjeyan, a prominent producer-distributor in Tamil Cinema, is causing a stir within Malayalam film circles. The clip showcases the producer discussing a recent exchange he had with Visakh Subramaniam, the producer of Varshangalkku Shesham, regarding the rights to purchase the Malayalam film. Dhananjeyan recounted how he anticipated a reasonable quote from the producer, only to be surprised by the staggering amount of Rs 15 crore. Deeming it unreasonable for a Malayalam film's release in Tamil Nadu, he promptly declined the offer. The distributor even stated that Visakh claimed his film was better than Manjummel Boys, which was a record-breaker for a Malayalam film released in Tamil Nadu. Dhananjeyan concluded saying Varshangalkku Shesham only got a Rs 50 lakh share in Tamil Nadu.
