The Delhi High Court ruled that a wife forced to leave her home due to her husband’s extramarital affair is a victim of domestic violence, upholding compensation of ₹5 lakh for her injuries.
In a significant ruling, the Delhi High Court stated that a wife compelled to leave her matrimonial home because of her husband’s extramarital affair becomes a victim of domestic violence. Justice Subramonium Prasad made this statement while dismissing the husband’s plea, challenging an additional INR 5 lakh compensation awarded to his wife for injuries, which included mental harassment.
