The Chhattisgarh High Court recently said that in a matrimonial house, a wife cannot be treated as a hired chattel or a bonded labour to stay under the conditions imposed by the husband. The high court also stated that if the husband expects his wife to stay at a place other than his company without any sufficient cause, and if the wife resists his demand, it would not be cruelty by the wife.
