On Thursday, January 22, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that due to an intense Western disturbance, heavy rainfall/snowfall accompanied by hailstorms, lightning and gusty winds are likely at isolated places over the Western Himalayan region on January 23. The weather agency further added that light to moderate rainfall is also likely at a few places over the plains of northwest India during the same period. IMD also said that another intense Western Disturbance is likely to affect northwest India from January 26-28. That said, the weather forecasting service Windy has not predicted any rainfall for Mumbai and Bengaluru for today, January 23. Similarly, no rainfall warning has been issued for Hyderabad and Kolkata for Friday. However, 0.5 to 19 mm of rainfall is likely in New Delhi on January 23.
