Sediqullah Atal once again came up with an impactful performance with bat in hand to guide Afghanistan A to the title. Earlier, Afghanistan A had pulled off one of the biggest victories when they beat India in the second semifinal of ACC Men's T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024.
Afghanistan A defeated Sri Lanka A by seven wickets to win the ACC Men's T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024 title on October 27. It was the first time that Afghanistan A won the title and a huge credit should go to Sediqullah Atal, who has been one of the best players of the tournament. He struck an unbeaten 55 to help Afghanistan A chase down a 134-run target with 11 balls to spare. Batting first, Sri Lanka A scored 133/7 in 20 overs, with Sahan Arachchige being the top-scorer (64 runs off 47 deliveries), a knock which included six fours. Pawan Rathnayake (20) and Nimesh Vimukthi (23) were the other main contributors with the bat. For Afghanistan A, Bilal Sami took three wickets for 22 runs while Allah Ghazanfar scalped two wickets. Chasing the modest target, Afghanistan A lost in-form opener Zubaid Akbari off the first ball, with Sahan Arachchige being the one to dismiss him. But the chase was steadied by Sediqullah Atal, who stitched partnerships with Darwish Rasooli (24) and Karim Janat (33). He ensured that Afghanistan A crossed the finish line with a splendid knock, one that included three fours and one six.
