The former CSK captain walked into bat in the 17th over of the GT vs CSK IPL 2024 match after Shivam Dube was dismissed, and he played his shot on the first ball off the 20th over when he came down the track and whipped the ball on the leg-side for a maximum off Rashid Khan's bowling. Dhoni hit another six off the next ball and finished with 26 runs off 11 deliveries. Unfortunately, it was not enough, as Chennai Super Kings lost by 35 runs.
