A controversy unfolded in the Paraguayan contingent during the Paris Olympics 2024 games village as swimmer Luana Alonso was expelled from the Paris Olympics 2024 games village. She secured sixth place finish in Heat 1 of the 100-metre breaststroke in Paris. According to the Paraguayan Olympic committee head, Alonso didn't spend a night inside the games village and her presence is creating 'inappropriate environment' within the contingent. As a protest to her expulsion, Luana Alonso has retired from representing Paraguay in Swimming.
