Vinesh Phogat’s dream of winning a medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 was crushed after she was disqualified from the final bout. Phogat was found 150 grams over the permissible weight and now can’t compete in the final. Chief Medical Officer of Indian Contingent Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala explained some of the reasons for ‘overnight weight gain’. He said, “Sometimes there is a factor of rebound weight gain following a competition. Vinesh had three bouts, to prevent any dehydration, some amount of water had to be given. We found her post-participation weight had increased more than normal and the coach initiated the normal process of weight cut that he has always used with Vinesh. Overnight we went ahead with the weight cut procedure. Despite all efforts, we found Vinesh's weight was 100 grams over her 50kg weight category.” Watch the complete video below. Vinesh Phogat Disqualified From Paris Olympics 2024: WFI President Sanjay Singh Provides Update on Next Plan of Actions (Watch Video).
