Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik Claim Security of Women Wrestlers Set to Testify Against Ex-WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Singh Have Been Withdrawn; Delhi Police Responds
The former WFI chief was charged with sexual harassment by a Delhi Court but he had later pleaded not guilty to the same. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh was removed as the WFI chief last year and was succeeded by Sanjay Singh.
Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik have claimed that the Delhi Police have removed security for the women wrestlers who are about to testify against former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) Brij Bhushan Singh in a sexual harassment case in Delhi court. Phogat and Malik were at the forefront of the wrestlers' protest last year. However, the Delhi Police have responded to the claim, stating that there was no withdrawal of security. Phogat, a few days ago, had returned to a huge reception in India after she was disqualified from the wrestling 50kg final at the Paris Olympics 2024. Her subsequent appeal for a silver medal was rejected by the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS).
