That's it. There will be no more play after match stopped due to bad light. A forgettable day for India as they didn't have much success with the ball. Specially Dean Elgar pushed them back with his century with support from Tony de Zorzi and David Bedingham. South Africa are in the lead and India has to come up with a solid plan to bring back the game back in their favour.

India get a much needed break and some time to rethink their strategy as bad light stops play in the final session of Day 2. South Africa lost half their side but were starting to pile up the lead against India putting them under pressure. India has to chase the game from here on and they need fresh strategies to start over.

27 Dec, 20:46 (IST)

Out! Again two wickets come in quick succession and the wicket goes in the bag of Prasidh Krishna. Maiden Test wicket for the debutant who got one to get a nick of Kyle Verreynne's bat and go to the hands of KL Rahul. South Africa are in the lead now and India have a lot to do.

27 Dec, 20:32 (IST)

Out! Mohammed Siraj finally gets the much needed breakthrough. Gets one to sneak through the bat and pad of David Bedingham and the ball crashes into his stumps. Much needed breakthrough for India as South Africa is on the verge of taking a lead and there is a lot of catch up to do for the visitors.

27 Dec, 20:28 (IST)

David Bedingham shines with the bat too as he stitches a huge partnership with Dean Elgar. Coming in when South Africa lost two quick wickets, Bedingham showed his intent and skills against a quality Indian bowling attack and completed his half-century. India are under lot of pressure now.

The second session ends on Day 2 and Indian bowlers have to take a long walk back to the dressing room. Jasprit Bumrah opened up a small window of opportunity dismissing Tony de Zorzi and Keegan Petersen but David Bedingham has partnered Dean Elgar well who scored a fantastic century taking the air out of the Indian attack. Rohit Sharma's men have to do something extraordinary to change the flow in their favour.

27 Dec, 18:42 (IST)

Century! What a fantastic knock from Dean Elgar in his farewell series. He weathered and negotiated India's new ball attack and then accelerated since the lunch break stitching up crucial partnerships. Now he reaches his 14th Test hundred and is on his way to trouble India like many times before.

27 Dec, 17:49 (IST)

Out! Back to back wickets for Jasprit Bumrah. After finally getting the evading edge off Tony de Zorzi's bat, Bumrah's delivery crashes in to the stumps of Keegan Petersen who attempted a nothing shot. India have finally found a way back into the game and they have to capitalise on this opportunity.

27 Dec, 17:12 (IST)

Fifty! Dean Elgar has upped his intent since returning from Lunch Break and played some great shots with India's first change bowlers on the attack, cruising to his half-century in no time. Elgar has troubled India previously and this time it seems nothing has changed.

27 Dec, 17:01 (IST)

Dean Elgar and Tony de Zorzi start the session after lunch with as much control as they have ended it. Zorzi played a few shots that went to boundary and South Africa look to take things in their control with the duo spending more time on the pitch.

27 Dec, 16:12 (IST)

It's Lunch break on Day 2 and South Africa will be happy the way they have controlled proceedings since the dismissal of Aiden Markram. Dean Elgar unleashed his familiar survival instincts and with Tony de Zorzi alongside him they have accumulated a few runs before going into the break. Having negotiated the new ball attack, their focus will be now on maximising as much as they can.

27 Dec, 15:12 (IST)

Out! South Africa lose their first and it is the important one of experienced Aiden Markram. Mohammed Siraj is the one to draw the blood as he gets one to just seam away enough to take the outside edge of Aiden Markram. Beautiful bowling and Markram could do little to avoid the inevitable.

27 Dec, 14:41 (IST)

India All Out! That's the end of a fine knock from KL Rahul. Nandre Burger picks the final wicket of India's innings. He goes through Rahul's defense. India will be happy with the effort especially after being 107/5 at one stage.

Hundred up for KL Rahul! An excellent show by the India wicket-keeper. He has fought a lone battle. India are nine down now and Rahul will look to further accelerate.

After the delayed start, the action has resumed in the India vs South Africa 1st Test 2023 on day two.  KL Rahul and Mohammed Siraj are in the middle as India look for a decent first innings total after an early struggle.

India is now in the last phase of their South Africa tour. On day 1 of the 1st Test between India and South Africa, there are a lot of things that India should have to avoid on the next day. The South African team won the toss and opted to bowl first, the home side had two debutants namely Nandre Burger and David Bedingham. From the Indian side, Prasidh Krishna is making a debut. Indian batting lineup failed to deliver as the top order fumbled and then the middle order was also not looking so great, but then KL Rahul came in and managed to keep the Indian side intact. India vs South Africa, 1st Test 2023, Centurion Weather Report: Check Out the Rain Forecast and Pitch Report at SuperSport Park

KL Rahul went on to score a half-century and stayed not out at the end of day 1 of the 1st Test Match. KL Rahul is batting on 70 runs in 105 balls. Mohammed Siraj is standing on the other end of the pitch and is yet to open his account. South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada went on to complete 500 wickets in international cricket across all formats and also managed to take a fifer. Rabada gave a tough time to the Indian batting lineup. The first day's play was interrupted by rain and at the end of the first day, India was 208/8 in 59 overs.Virat Kohli Surpasses Rohit Sharma to Become India's Highest Run-Scorer in WTC History, Achieves Feat During IND vs SA 1st Test 2023.

The conditions in Centurion have certainly offered help to the fast bowlers. With that extra bit of bounce, batsmen are finding it tough to get through. India would be aiming to make history by beating South Africa in their own backyard for the first time in a Test series but for that, they will have to give them a proper fightback with both batting and bowling. In 2021-22, India won the first Test before losing the next two.
