Afghanistan vs Bangladesh Highlights And Cricket Score 6th Match - ODI Commentary

End of Over : 50.0 AFG: 255/7

The total is not going to be an easy one to overhaul and with a few of their premier batsmen missing, Bangladesh will need a special knock from one of their main batters, if they are to pull this one off. Afghanistan, on the other hand, defended a similar kind of a total against Sri Lanka and they will back their bowlers to do the job again. Who will win the last game of the group stage? Stay tuned to find out.

Shahidi is giving a little interview. He is happy with the eventual total as they wanted something above 220. Credits Rashid Khan for the way he batted. Adds further the Bangladesh bowlers bowled well earlier and didn't allow them to score freely. States he tried to play till the end but could not. Informs the ball is coming nicely onto the bat but he believes the second innings will be tougher. He reckons they have enough on the board and they are happy with the total.

Mehidy was very economical and one would wonder why he did not bowl his full quota of overs. Hossain and Mortaza started off well but fell prey to the carnage towards the fag end. They were completely clueless.

The Bangladesh bowling started off really well. To be honest, they bowled well throughout but faltered at the death. Shakib and Abu Hider were the standout bowlers with the star all-rounder finishing with a 4-fer and the debutant bagging a 2-fer.

Things changed for better for Afghanistan post that. The birthday boy, Rashid Khan had something special in store for us. He came out all guns blazing and scored a magnificent half ton. Naib, too, played his hand and they smoked the bowlers to all parts of the ground.

After electing to bat, Afghanistan got off to a poor start. They lost two early wickets. Then, Shahzad and Shahidi steadied the ship with a 51-run stand. But just as Mohammad Shahzad tried to cut loose he departed. Wickets then fell at regular intervals and at the 40th over mark, Bangladesh looked like they would restrict Afghanistan below 200.

WOW! What a power-packed performance this by Afghanistan! 97 is the number of runs they've scored in the last 10 overs, courtesy a 95-run stand off just 56 balls between Rashid and Naib. The two walk off to a standing ovation from the crowd and also their teammates. This pair has ensured that Afghanistan have a total which we believe is above par on this surface.

49.6 4

Mashrafe Mortaza to Rashid Khan. FOUR! Rashid Khan, you beauty! Afghanistan could not have asked for a better finish than this. Rashid, in full attacking mode, charges down the track. Mortaza keeps it on a length and it is an off cutter again. Rashid flat-bats it over the extra cover region and finds the gap to get another boundary in this final over. 19 to finish their innings and Afghanistan set a TARGET OF 256 for Bangladesh.

49.5 4

Mashrafe Mortaza to Rashid Khan. FOUR! Mortaza, seeing the batsman is targeting the leg side, fires this one a bit shorter of good length and wide of off. Rashid Khan is seeing the ball like a football and slashes hard at it. The hard cut flies over the point region and the ball crosses the deep point fence in a jiffy. Third ODI fifty for the swashbuckling all-rounder comes up. What an end to the innings, this!

49.4 2

Mashrafe Mortaza to Rashid Khan. A good yorker by Mortaza but it is dug out well by Rashid. The ball rolls down into the leg side and the fielder at deep square leg runs in to stop it but cannot stop the batsmen from taking a brace.

49.3 4

Mashrafe Mortaza to Rashid Khan. FOUR! Two in two for the birthday boy. He looks in smashing form today. Will surely take this confidence into his bowling as well. He gives the charge and skips down the ground, seeing this the Bangladesh skipper bangs it in and slower in pace. Rashid does well to wait for the ball to arrive, swivels and pulls it behind square for a boundary. It is looking good now for the Afghans as they race ahead. The flamboyant Rashid Khan at it again, with the bat this time.

49.2 4

Mashrafe Mortaza to Rashid Khan. FOUR! Rashid Khan, the Afghanistan star, doing exactly what his team requires off him. Mortaza dishes in a off cutter a bit short in length and angling into the batsman. Rashid hammers the pull over square leg to bisect the fielders. Rubel rushes across to his left from fine leg, puts in a dive but it falls in front before going past the boundary line.

49.1 1

Mashrafe Mortaza to Gulbadin Naib. Mashrafe starts the final over by landing an off cutter on a good length just outside off, Naib waits for the ball nicely and swats it through mid-wicket but to the fielder placed at the boundary line there. They take a single.

End of Over : 49 7 Runs AFG: 236/7
48.6 2

Abu Hider to Rashid Khan. Great game awareness from the birthday man! Wow... this is simply superb. It was another full toss on middle and Rashid flicked it over square leg. The deep mid-wicket fielder ran to his right and pushes the ball in at the very last moment. Now, here is where the drama begins. While completing the second run, Rashid loses his bat. But he does not cheat. He goes back and drags his left foot inside the crease. Now see the greediness of the birthday boy. He wants the cake and the ice-cream as well. In spite of losing his footing, he wants the third. Maybe because he wanted to keep strike. However, sensing danger, his partner sends him back. Mr. Khan though has left his station and has to put in the sudden brake. He slips but shows good awareness by planting his left hand inside the crease. Terrific, simply terrific cricket. Take a bow, RK. So just 7 from the penultimate over and Abu Hider is done for the day. A debut which is surely worth remembering. He was excellent with the new ball and was brilliant at the death. He finishes with figures of 9-1-50-2.

48.5 0

Abu Hider to Rashid Khan. Swing and a miss! Outside off, Rashid swings but only connects with thin air. Just 5 from the over so far. The last ball of his last over spoiled it. Can he finish well this time?

48.4 1

Abu Hider to Gulbadin Naib. Another full toss but Naib now seems to have run out of gas. He is unable to find the middle as he mistimes it again towards mid off for a run.

48.3 2

Abu Hider to Gulbadin Naib. Naib now walks ahead to counter the yorker. He takes it on the full but mistimes it towards mid-wicket. A brace taken.

48.2 1

Abu Hider to Rashid Khan. Yorker again! This is very impressive stuff from the debutant. Rashid can only jam it out towards the leg side for a run.

48.1 1

Abu Hider to Gulbadin Naib. Risky single... but safe! Naib goes for the paddle but gets a bottom edge beside the pitch. Rashid calls for a run. Hider runs towards the ball but fails to pick it up. One run added to the total.

End of Over : 48 17 Runs AFG: 229/7
47.6 4

Mashrafe Mortaza to Rashid Khan. FOUR! Yes, they have. 17 from the over and this boundary is the best of all the boundaries that Rashid has hit today. The slower ball on middle, Khan makes room and slaps it over the cover fielder and the ball races away. RK moves onto 36 in no time.

47.5 2

Mashrafe Mortaza to Rashid Khan. A couple off the Free Hit! Another full toss, Khan this time flicks it towards deep mid-wicket and the batsmen take two. 13 from the over so far, can they make this a 17-run over or a 19-run over?

47.5 5

Mashrafe Mortaza to Rashid Khan. FOUR! And to add to that Mortaza has overstepped. What a shot! Picked his spot to perfection there, Rashid Khan! He comes down the track and takes it on the full. Lofts it over mid off and bags a boundary. Free Hit coming up.

47.4 1

Mashrafe Mortaza to Gulbadin Naib. A low full toss, GN tries to go over covers but does not get the timing right. Only a single results.

47.3 2

Mashrafe Mortaza to Gulbadin Naib. Two again! On a length around middle, Naib once again gets it off the inner half towards mid-wicket and gets two.

47.2 2

Mashrafe Mortaza to Gulbadin Naib. Brilliant again! He bowls it full and also follows the batsman as he makes room. Naib mistimes it towards mid on and some good running helps them get two.

47.1 1

Mashrafe Mortaza to Rashid Khan. Mashrafe comes from around the wicket and bowls the yorker on middle, Rashid jams it down to long on for a run.

End of Over : 47 9 Runs AFG: 212/7
46.6 4

Abu Hider to Gulbadin Naib. FOUR! But can't. The last ball spoils the over! Top shot by Naib. He walks right across and Hider bowls a yorker. Naib, at the very last moment, gets his bat down and flicks it through square leg for a boundary. The 50-run stand is up and it has come up in quick time. The momentum changing partnership you can say.

46.5 0

Abu Hider to Gulbadin Naib. Lovely over this is till now! Another yorker outside off, Naib fails to jam it out. Needs to finish it well.

46.4 1

Abu Hider to Rashid Khan. Another delivery he has gotten away with. A high full toss outside off. Khan swings but misses. The keeper fumbles and concedes a bye.

46.4 wd

Abu Hider to Rashid Khan. WIDE! But to be honest, Hider was a touch lucky there! He bowled a slower ball down the leg side. Rashid goes for the sweep and had he connected, it would have been a boundary as the fine leg was in. He does not and the umpire signals it as a wide.

46.3 1

Abu Hider to Gulbadin Naib. Another full toss outside off, Naib swings, he gets a top edge but due to the long boundaries here, it falls safe in the third man region and a run is taken.

46.2 0

Abu Hider to Gulbadin Naib. Well bowled! A yorker outside off, you cannot hit that to many places and Naib finds that out as he gets a bottom edge to the keeper.

46.1 2

Abu Hider to Gulbadin Naib. A couple to start the over! A full toss outside off, Naib lofts it over the cover fielder, not off the middle but connects well enough to get two.

Abu Hider is back into the attack.

End of Over : 46 5 Runs AFG: 203/7
45.6 2

Mashrafe Mortaza to Rashid Khan. In the air... but safe! A brace more importantly! This is short and on middle, Khan tries to pull but gets a top edge which lands in the vacant mid-wicket area. The batsmen take two.

45.5 2

Mashrafe Mortaza to Rashid Khan. Good running! This is the slower ball on the pads, Rashid works it towards fine leg and runs two. 200 up now, not sure it looked possible at one stage but now they can add more to it with 4.1 overs left. Also, the 4th fifty for Afghanistan has come off the fewest number of balls. Surely a momentum shift.

45.4 1

Mashrafe Mortaza to Gulbadin Naib. A single now as Naib cuts it through point for a run.

45.3 0

Mashrafe Mortaza to Gulbadin Naib. This time the seam up delivery outside off, Naib again swings but misses. 3 dots so far in this over.

45.2 0

Mashrafe Mortaza to Gulbadin Naib. Using all his experience in use here. He bowls it slower and pitches it just ahead of a length. Naib swings but misses.

45.1 0

Mashrafe Mortaza to Gulbadin Naib. Gives the bowler the charge. Mortaza spots it early and bangs it short. Naib fends it out.

End of Over : 45 17 Runs AFG: 198/7
44.6 1

Rubel Hossain to Gulbadin Naib. Naib too shows he has brains and not only power as he eases it down to long off for a run. 17 from the over and this perhaps could be the momentum changing one.

44.5 1

Rubel Hossain to Rashid Khan. Does the smart thing now... He pushes it through covers and gets to the other end.

44.4 6

Rubel Hossain to Rashid Khan. SIX! He has picked the bones out of that one! Uff! What a shot! 15 from the over and 2 balls are yet remaining. Another bouncer, Rashid maybe was expecting it this time as he pulls it right off the middle and over the square leg fence.

44.3 4

Rubel Hossain to Rashid Khan. FOUR! Second in the over! Not convincing but Rashid won't mind at all! A bumper on middle, Rashid goes for the hook without watching the ball. He gets a top edge and the ball races to the fine leg fence. 9 runs already from the over, they can now make this a big one.

44.2 1

Rubel Hossain to Gulbadin Naib. Swings again but this time not the same connection as he got on the last ball. It goes off the inner half towards mid-wicket for a run. Easy Naib, 5 more overs are left after this one, your team needs you out there.

44.1 4

Rubel Hossain to Gulbadin Naib. FOUR! Welcome back into the attack. A boundary off the very first ball which means pressure on the bowler. The slower ball on middle, Naib picks it, waits for it and hits it through mid-wicket. No fielder in the deep and it races away.

Rubel Hossain is back on.

End of Over : 44 4 Runs AFG: 181/7
43.6 1

Mashrafe Mortaza to Gulbadin Naib. Naib retains strike as he drives this fuller length ball around off into the mid-wicket region for a single.

43.5 1

Mashrafe Mortaza to Rashid Khan. Similar ball this but Rashid does well to push it into the gap in covers to take a single and get Gulbadin on strike for the last ball of the over.

43.4 0

Mashrafe Mortaza to Rashid Khan. A bit shorter and marginally outside off, punched well but straight to covers by Khan.

43.3 0

Mashrafe Mortaza to Rashid Khan. A bit shorter in length angling into Rashid who turns it into the leg side with the angle but does not find the gap and cannot take his team's total ahead.

43.2 1

Mashrafe Mortaza to Gulbadin Naib. Naib does well to wait for that ball to arrive and steers it into the third man region to cross over for a single. They are keeping the scoreboard ticking.

43.1 1

Mashrafe Mortaza to Rashid Khan. Mortaza will not give any pace to the batsman to play with. He dishes a slow bouncer around off. Khan pulls it confidently to deep mid-wicket for just a single.

Mashrafe Mortaza, the Bangladesh skipper, comes into the attack to take matters in his own hands.

End of Over : 43 7 Runs AFG: 177/7
42.6 1

Shakib Al Hasan to Rashid Khan. Now Rashid works it with the angle towards square leg to end Shakib's spell with a single. So 7 of Shakib's last over. A bit expensive by his standards today. Nevertheless, he has been brilliant with figures of 10-1-42-4.

42.5 0

Shakib Al Hasan to Rashid Khan. A stifled appeal but not given! On middle, it is the straighter one. Rashid tries to defend but gets an inside edge onto his pads.

42.4 4

Shakib Al Hasan to Rashid Khan. FOUR! Well, Rashid maybe has different ideas. He goes down on one knee and connects the sweep. The ball races through the backward square leg region for a boundary.

42.3 1

Shakib Al Hasan to Gulbadin Naib. Once again, happily knocks it towards long off and gets to the other end. They probably want to play this over out.

42.2 1

Shakib Al Hasan to Rashid Khan. Smart! Watchfully eases it down towards long off and rotates strike.

42.1 0

Shakib Al Hasan to Rashid Khan. Slower through the air on off, Rashid keeps it out. This is what they should do in this over, it is Shakib's last.

End of Over : 42 9 Runs AFG: 170/7
41.6 4

Abu Hider to Gulbadin Naib. FOUR! Hider has faltered there. He bangs it short looking to surprise Naib but the batsman is aware and rocks back quickly to pull it through the square leg region for a smashing boundary. Two back to back boundaries to end a good over for Afghanistan. 9 off it.

41.5 4

Abu Hider to Gulbadin Naib. FOUR! Clean strike! Up and over the mid-wicket region to bring up an important boundary for the batting team. They need more of these. Abu lands this on a length around off and coming into the batsman. Gulbadin swats this off the front foot over the mid-wicket region to get a powerful boundary.

41.4 1

Abu Hider to Rashid Khan. A bit shorter in length is punched into covers for a single.

41.3 0

Abu Hider to Rashid Khan. Bangs this in short, a good change of length. That, may be, surprised Rashid Khan as he sees the ball banged in short and goes for the hook but misses the line of the delivery.

41.2 0

Abu Hider to Rashid Khan. A fuller length delivery but not a half volley. Driven by Rashid to covers but no chance of a run there. Good bowling by the debutant who continues to impress.

41.1 0

End of Over : 41 3 Runs AFG: 161/7
40.6 1

Shakib Al Hasan to Rashid Khan. Rashid Khan lofts this one over the mid off region but gets only a run as the fielder at the ropes there runs in and throws it back quickly. Rashid seems to be in the fifth gear straightaway.

Rashid Khan, the birthday boy, strides out to the middle.

40.5 W

Shakib Al Hasan to Mohammad Nabi. OUT! Pretty much plumb in front. Nabi had decided to go for the sweep before the ball was bowled. He goes down to sweep and may be seeing this the wily left-arm spinner keeps it a bit fuller in line of the stumps. Nabi swipes his bat in full force but misses the ball to get rapped in front. The Tigers go up in unison and the umpire raises his finger to signal the route towards the dressing room to Nabi.

39.1 4

Abu Hider to Gulbadin Naib. FOUR! A boundary to welcome the youngster back. Putting pressure straightaway to start the over in an ideal manner. Hider fires this full on off. Naib, in attacking mode now, is waiting for it and launches into it as he sees it dished fuller in length. He drives it straight down the ground with a lot of power for a timely boundary for Afghanistan.

Shenwari sees the flight on that one and goes across to slog it towards the mid-wicket region, looking for a maximum. But he was completely done in by the flight by Shakib as the ball lands and skids straight through, under the bat to hit the wooden sticks behind. Shakib Al Hasan to Mohammad Shahzad. OUT! Just as I write they need to continue, Shahzad has thrown it away. One shot too many by the opener. He was going hard but having got a boundary on the last ball, this was not needed. Trying to be greedy. But credit to the fielder for taking an excellent catch. Any guesses who it is? Abu Hider, impressed with the ball earlier and now making no mistakes in the field. Seems as if he can't do anything wrong today. MS uses his feet and tries to clear the long on fence. He does connect well but does not get the desired elevation. Hider there, makes good ground to his left and takes it in motion with his hands stretched above his head. He throws the ball up in the air in delight as the Bangladesh players charge towards him. They are ecstatic as they have broken the stand which was just about starting to flourish. Shahzad walks back disappointed after getting a start. Afghanistan will need to rebuild again.

19.2 4

Shakib Al Hasan to Mohammad Shahzad. FOUR! Hammered! Poor ball and Shahzad pounces onto it! This was a half-tracker, a nothing delivery by Shakib. 17.4 1

Mashrafe Mortaza to Hashmatullah Shahidi. Outstanding work there by Mashrafe but he just could not get the direct hit! Shahzad was no where near to making it in. This is on a length and around middle, Shahidi pushes it towards the left of the bowler. Mashrafe, not known for his agility, dives full length to his left, stops the ball and then has a shy at his end but misses. The batsmen take an overthrow. Another missed opportunity of getting Shahzad out. He is living a charmed life out there. He would want to make it count.

Drinks. A good start by Bangladesh and their bowlers are not letting the Afghan batsmen get away. Afghanistan will hope that the current pair of their attacking keeper-batsman and the elegant southpaw, Shahzad and Shahidi, will extend this unbeaten 35-run stand further and take their team onto safer shores. End of Over : 5 9 Runs AFG: 28/1
4.6 2

Rubel Hossain to Mohammad Shahzad. Pulled again through mid-wicket but not timed that well. Shahzad gets in position very early as he sees it a bit short but fails to connect well with his shot. Seems as if it hits near the bottom of the bat and hence the batsmen only get a brace.

4.5 3

Rubel Hossain to Rahmat Shah. Nicely driven. Getting low and driving through the line and down the ground. They amble across for a couple thinking it will reach the fence. But the ball stops itself before the line and they have to hurry back for the third run.

4.4 0

Rubel Hossain to Rahmat Shah. The batsman has driven it towards mid off.

4.3 4

Rubel Hossain to Rahmat Shah. FOUR! Smashed! Nice start for Rahmat as he rocks back and across to this short delivery on off and pulls it handsomely through mid-wicket to get his first boundary. Up and running is Shah. Looks like he has started from where he left off the other day.

3.5 0

Abu Hider to Mohammad Shahzad. Good come by Hider after the early boundary. He lands this on a length outside off and gets the ball to move away a bit. The movement beats the tentative push by Shahzad.

3.4 0

Abu Hider to Mohammad Shahzad. The batsman shows the full face of the bat and defends the ball off the back foot.

3.3 2

3.2 0

Abu Hider to Mohammad Shahzad. Punched off the back foot by the batsman.

3.1 4

Abu Hider to Mohammad Shahzad. FOUR! Streaky! But Shahzad will take it with both hands. Hider is a bit short of a good length area outside off. Shahzad, seeing the width on it, flashes hard but gets a thick outside edge through the vacant second slip region for the ball to find the third man fence. There was a slip in place but it was very wide, almost in a gully position.

End of Over : 3 2 Runs AFG: 13/1

1.6 0

Abu Hider to Mohammad Shahzad. Square cuts, but straight to point to end the over.

1.5 1

Abu Hider to Rahmat Shah. A length ball on middle and off, it is worked away nicely by Rahmat into the square leg region to get off the mark with a single.

Rahmat Shah walks into bat in his 50th ODI game.

1.4 W

Abu Hider to Ihsanullah. OUT! Maiden ODI wicket for Abu Hider. That's smashed but a sharp catch is taken at cover-point. Hider gets lucky this time as he dishes out a short of a length delivery outside off. It was there to be cut and Ihsanullah does exactly that. Connects well too but the placement is poor as the ball flies at waist height to Mithun who takes a fine catch. The ball was not too far away from him but boy it was traveling! Bangladesh strike early. Can they make further inroads?

1.3 4

Abu Hider to Ihsanullah. FOUR! One brings two. Hider overcompensates and strays this length ball on his legs, Ihsanullah flicks this uppishly through the mid-wicket region and the timing takes the ball racing through to the boundary.

1.2 4

Abu Hider to Ihsanullah. FOUR! Cracker! That's the first boundary there for Afghanistan and a good one at that too. Hider keeps it a bit short and wide of off. Ihsanullah goes back and across and cuts this fiercely through the gap at covers for a smashing boundary. A cracking start for the opener.

1.1 0

Abu Hider to Ihsanullah. Good start by the debutant. Keeps it on a length around middle and off. Ihsanullah flicks it away with a wristy shot to mid-wicket.

Rubel Hossain to Mohammad Shahzad. Punched off the back foot into the covers. Good start this by Rubel.

0.3 0

Rubel Hossain to Mohammad Shahzad. The attacking opener has stood up on his toes to play that one on the leg side.

0.2 0

Rubel Hossain to Mohammad Shahzad. Bangs it in this time, angling into the batsman. Shahzad looks to pull but gets cramped. The ball hits his arm and drops down onto the ground.

0.1 0

Rubel Hossain to Mohammad Shahzad. Right on the money is Rubel as he lands this fractionally short of a good length. Kept out off the back foot by Shahzad.

Done and dusted with the national anthems and now the players make their way out to the middle. Ihsanullah and Mohammad Shahzad are the openers. The latter will be on strike and he will be facing Rubel Hossain who will bowl with the first new ball. Here we go...

Both teams are out for their respective national anthems.

Bangladesh captain, Mashrafe Mortaza says that he also wanted to bat. Adds that he does not mind chasing as the pitch looks a good one to bat. He reckons the little bit of grass cover on it will not let it break as the match progresses. Mentions that they are without Tamim Iqbal (injured) and have rested Mushfiqur Rahim and Mustafizur Rahman. Informs that Abu Hider and Nazmul Hossain make their ODI debuts. Feels that their batters need to step up in order to handle the quality Afghanistan spinners. About the third replacement which he forgot, we later on found out that it is Mominul Haque.

Afghanistan captain, Asghar Afghan says that the pitch looks good for batting. Adds further that the little bit of grass cover on the surface will help the the ball to come onto the bat. States that they will look to put up a score of above 250 on the board and then put pressure on the Bangladesh batting line-up. Informs that Samiullah Shenwari comes in for Najibullah Zadran. Ends by saying that they are looking forward to today's match and want to play some good cricket.

TOSS - Afghanistan win the toss and elect to bat.

Hello and welcome all to the 6th and final match of the group stage between Bangladesh and Afghanistan. A dead rubber or a chance to get the all-important winning momentum and march ahead into the tournament? Both teams, including their fans, will dearly want to win before heading into the Super Four stage. One thing we are sure to witness is a hard-fought battle between two super passionate and skillful sides. So, who will have the last laugh at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi? Let's find out...

End of Over : 42.1 BAN: 119/10

Done and dusted with the final game of the group stage. On Friday, the Super Four stage begins. We will have a couple of matches starting at 1530 local (1100 GMT). In Dubai, India will be taking on Bangladesh while Pakistan will face Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi. Do join us for all the action. Cheers!

Man of the match, Rashid Khan, thanks Russel Arnold who wishes him for his birthday today. Rashid says he is happy to contribute in all three departments - batting bowling and fielding. Adds further that he wishes to continue with this good form of his. States that during their batting they were focusing on every delivery and their main focus was to take the innings till the end and then do their best to put up a big total. Also says that they are working hard on their fielding and adds that by putting in some extra effort and focus, they can improve even further every day in the fielding aspect. Mentions that he always looks to bowl as many dots as possible, build pressure on the batsmen and eventually, wicket taking becomes easier. Ends by saying that the wickets in UAE seems to be changing with every match and hence they just need to focus on their performance and concentrate on giving their 100% each time they walk onto the field.

Afghanistan captain Asghar Afghan thanks the almighty and says it was an important day and match for them. Adds further that Rashid Khan and all the other bowlers bowled really well and feels they won the match for them. States that they lost early wickets while batting and also did not play very well in the middle overs. Mentions that thankfully they had a great ending where Rashid Khan played an outstanding innings to get them to a above par total. Admits that they had thought that any score around 250 will be a competitive one as they have some really good bowlers top defend it. Ends by thanking the crowd for their support and requests them to come back again tomorrow to support them again.

The Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza says that Afghanistan deserve to win as they have completely outplayed them. Feels that they did not bowl well in the last 10 overs, giving away too many runs and also adds that their batting was also not up to the mark. States further that the big match is coming up tomorrow and they are hopeful to put up a better show. Mentions that it is difficult to recover from such a huge defeat and playing back to back matches also does not help. States that they have to fight harder tomorrow if they want to win. Also says that they are facing some injury concerns as their star opener, Tamim Iqbal, has to return back home due to his injury. Ends by saying that Mushfiqur and Mustafizur were rested because of their niggles.

Full marks to Afghanistan for the way they bowled and fielded. They showed good energy and enthusiasm and always had the upper hand on Bangladesh. Aftab Alam and Gulbadin Naib were impressive with their seam bowling and then Mujeeb along with Rashid did the rest. Their spinners, in particular, were very accurate in their lines and applied immense pressure. The Afghans were so clinical that Bangladesh got their first boundary in the 15th over and managed just 5 boundaries overall. Never allowed any chance to the Men in Green to break free.

In reply, the Bangladesh innings never got going. In absence of Tamim Iqbal, their top order looked very ordinary and failed to tackle the Afghanistan bowlers. The star all-rounder, Shakib, tried hard and finished as the leading run-getter for his team but the continuous fall of wickets made Bangladesh's job really tough. Altogether, a flavorless batting show by the Bangla Tigers to face a hefty defeat.

Earlier in the day, Afghanistan opted to bat but didn't get the desired beginning. Hashmatullah Shahidi and Mohammad Shahzad then steadied the innings with a half century partnership. However, the innings faltered once this stand was broken and at one stage it appeared that Bangladesh will bundle them out under 200. It required a quickfire partnership between Gulbadin Naib and Rashid Khan to revive their hopes as the pair provided the much-needed impetus to the innings. They amassed 95 runs for the 8th wicket and completely stole the momentum from their opposition. A special mention for Rashid Khan's batting where he showed his extraordinary ability to hit big.

Another comprehensive win for Afghanistan! A neat and clean performance to outclass Bangladesh. The Afghans continue with their progress and have once again made a statement. They top their group which in itself is a big achievement and to be honest, the way they are playing at the moment, they can be considered as a title contender.

42.1 W

Mujeeb Ur Rahman to Rubel Hossain. OUT! Mujeeb wraps it up. He comes back and takes one ball to finish this off. It is just too good for the No.11 batsman as he is totally bamboozled by this googly. Mujeeb lands this on a length just outside off. Rubel comes forward to block this out but the ball pitches and turns in to beat his bat. He is thudded on the pads, they appeal and the umpire agrees. Afghanistan have dominated this game as they have demolished the Tigers by 136 runs!

Mujeeb Ur Rahman comes back into the attack.

He ends up mistiming it towards mid off as Rashid gets across to stop the ball. The leggie initially fails to do so and seeing that the non-striker sets off for a run. Mohammad Nabi to Mashrafe Mortaza. OUT! Great catch by Aftab Alam! A tossed up ball enticing the batsman to go after it. Mortaza skips down the track to attempt a big shot but mistimes it completely in the air towards deep mid-wicket. It's a skier and Alam does well to keep his eyes on the ball. He catches it before going down on the ground. Never easy to catch those coming down from a night sky. Well done.

End of Over : 36 7 Runs BAN: 108/7

Drinks. Afghanistan all over Bangladesh as we enter the second drinks break of the innings. The champion spinners from this team, mainly Nabi and Rashid, have put the brakes on the scoring and the leggie has taken key wickets to put Bangladesh in a hole. Will the Tigers be able to fight out and make a contest out of this?

33.1 W

Rahmat Shah to Mehidy Hasan. OUT! Strikes straightaway. What a bowling change! Shah starts off with a bit shorter and wide of off delivery. Hasan goes for the extravagant cut. Rashid Khan to Mahmudullah. OUT! It was just a matter of time. Rashid Khan has done what Rashid Khan does best, take key wickets. This one is kept on a fuller length just around off. Mahmudullah comes forward to block it out but plays the wrong line. He actually plays inside the line of the ball as it beats the outside edge and crashes into the off pole. Mahmudullah cannot believe it as he looks behind to confirm but he has to as the Afghans are seen celebrating and Mr. Khan does the dab celebration which Mr. Pandya and Mr. Rahul are famous for. Big wicket this for Afghanistan and they will look to wrap this up soon now. Rashid Khan has now become the leading wicket-taker for Afghanistan in ODIs.

End of Over : 28 3 Runs BAN: 87/5
27.6 1

Rashid Khan to Mahmudullah. Short and cut through point for a run.

Interesting thoughts from Aakash Chopra and Zaheer Khan on air. The former says that he would like to make a bold statement - 'Afghanistan are probably only 2 tosses away from making it to the final of the Asia Cup. Why? Because in Abu Dhabi, the win percentage of teams chasing 250 or more in ODIs is a mere 15.' To this, Zak actually does not agree or disagree. He simply states that the Afghans have become such a good team that bat or bowl first, does not matter. To be honest though, Mr. Chopra has a point. You can see what is transpiring now. We would love to see what happens if they are forced to chase though. Meanwhile, Dean Jones informs us that the attendance tonight is around 18,000. The capacity is 21K. Talking about percentages, that is a whopping 86 percent.

27.5 0

Mahmudullah is the new batsman in the middle.

14.1 W

Gulbadin Naib to Mohammad Mithun. OUT! Dragged on and the sound of timber! Big wicket this as Mithun is a very solid batsman and Bangladesh needed him to be out there to chase this target down. But the right-hander has disappointed. Naib keeps this on a good length just around off and it's shaping in nicely into the batsman. The line and the length on this delivery are not the ideal ones for the cut shot to be executed but that's exactly the mistake that Mithun has committed. He tries to cut it but gets cramped as the ball lands and moves back in a bit. It takes the inside edge before crashing into the timber behind. Bangladesh struggling big time.

Mominul has a swing at it but the angle takes it down the leg side and it seems that the ball has kissed a faint edge of the bat. Shahzad pouches it behind and the bowler is up in a vociferous appeal. Nothing from the umpire but Naib convinces his skipper to take the DRS. He is very sure. 4.5 W

Aftab Alam to Liton Das. OUT! Told you, that's plumb in front. This is extraordinary bowling by Aftab Alam. He kept on bowling those inswingers to trouble Liton and eventually gets him out. He dishes out a length ball around off and it jags back in sharply to beat Das' attempted flick shot (his bat-face was closed and he was falling across). He is rapped on the pads, they go up in a huge appeal and the umpire wastes no time in lifting his finger. Liton walks up to Shakib and has a long chat (under 15 seconds) and then takes the DRS. The replays roll in and they show three reds. Liton returns and takes the only review with him.

Aftab Alam to Liton Das. Nearly a run out first ball! What a start to this run-chase. A gentle loosener by Alam first up. He sprays this one down the leg side, Liton can't flick and Shahzad is quite lazy to get to the ball. It rolls down to fine leg and they cross. The batsmen eye the second run but Liton decides to send his partner back. Hossain dives in at the striker's end. The replays later on shows that had the fielder (not the keeper) who has come up to the stumps gathered the throw cleanly, it would have been curtains for Nazmul.

Back for the chase! The Afghanistan players are in a huddle near the boundary line. After a thundering partnership towards the end of the first innings, they surely have the momentum currently on their side. Let's see how they begin with the ball. Liton Das and Nazmul Hossain are the openers for Bangladesh. Aftab Alam to begin proceedings with the first new ball. A wide slip in place.
