Kolkata Knight Riders vs Mumbai Indians Highlights And Cricket Score 47th Match - T20 Summary

End of Over : 20.0 MI: 198/7

We're done with this one. Kolkata bounce back after 6 successive defeats and finally break the hoodoo. Mumbai won't suffer too much with this loss, just have to pick themselves up and move on to the next one quickly. Anyway, moving on, on Monday Hyderabad host Punjab and the action begins at 2000 local (1430 GMT). Do tune in for that one. Cheers!

Man of the Match, Andre Russell, says he's an Avengers fan and has been for a while. On being mentioned that there could be a superhero called Dre Russ, the all-rounder says he doesn't mind that at all. States that there are several reasons for his power-hitting, which include things like his bat speed, balance and core strength. Feels that he was just striking the ball well which he's pleased about. Mentions that they knew the conditions and applauds his bowlers for executing their plans well.

Kolkata skipper, Dinesh Karthik, says whatever happens, at the end of the day you have believe in the process and just make sure everyone is backing each other. Adds that at the end of the day, it's just a game and everyone should enjoy their experience. Reckons that it was a difficult track to bowl on and credits Hardik Pandya for the way he was striking the ball. States that he knew that it just takes one bad shot in such chases so he always believed his team would get over the line. On Shubman Gill, DK says he's really happy with his progress and mentions he's an important player for the team. On Andre Russell, Karthik laughs and says he's going to have to tell him to hit them with less power as the ball might get lost some time. Ends by thanking the Kolkata crowd for coming out and always supporting the team in huge numbers.

Hardik Pandya also comes in for a little talk. He says that he is disappointed he missed out on a ton. Mentions that he was lucky that he hit everything off the middle. Further adds that he did not think a lot, he just went there and was going after the bowlers straightaway. Reckons that he is holding his shape really well and he is very confident about his game at the moment. States that they needed a miracle and if Krunal could have got a couple of big hits, then it would have been possible. Ends by saying that he is happy with where they finished as the run rate has not been affected a lot.

Mumbai skipper, Rohit Sharma, says they did not get a good start, kept losing wickets and it kept getting more and more difficult. Admits that Hardik Pandya needed support and had he got it, it could have been a different story. Mentions that they tried everything they could with the ball but it did not work. Credits the way the Kolkata batsmen played. Further adds that they will learn from this and they will find answers going forward and he backs his bowlers to bounce back. States that you need to believe to chase down such scores and you need more than a couple of people to put their hand up because one man can't do it alone. Ends by saying that they need to regroup, they are playing at home and they know the conditions so they are confident.

The Kolkata bowlers were relentless. Barring the onslaught from Hardik, they kept everyone under check and kept picking wickets at regular intervals, which added to the already mounted scoreboard pressure. Except for Warrier, everyone who bowled chipped in with the wickets. Narine, Gurney and Russell got 2 each, while Chawla got 1. Plenty of positives for them to take, while a lot to work on for the Mumbai outfit. A timely reminder to them about the levels they need to maintain in this competition.

A comfortable win for Kolkata means they're still in the hunt and Mumbai will have to wait at least another game to qualify for the playoffs. An all-round performance from the hosts. They were colossus with the bat which did all the damage and then, were clinical with the ball. They got rid of Rohit and de Kock early, which dented the chase in a big way. Hardik Pandya kept hope alive as he was hitting the ball sweetly and to all parts of the ground, but there was no support for him from anyone else and it eventually proved to be too much for one man to do it alone. The all-rounder fell 9 short of what would have been a well-deserved ton.
