2nd Inn
End of Over : 50.0NZ: 271/7
The tourists be happy heading into the break and it could have been even better for them had Ashraf ran out Guptill when he was on 72. But they will fancy their chances of chasing this total down on a wicket which is good to bat. New Zealand on the other hand, will try and do what they have been doing throughout the series, that is bowl the away side out. Will we see Pakistan win their first game of the tour or will the Black Caps inflict a whitewash? Join us for the chase in a while.
Pakistan on the other hand, were quite flat at the start. Their pacers had no answers to the carnage by Munro. Though, after he departed they did manage to pull things back with their spinners Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz who were very economical in the middle overs. They managed to finish the innings off really well by chipping away at the wickets with Rumman Raees picking three and Fahim Ashraf picking two.
After the home side won the toss and elected to bat, Colin Munro and Martin Guptill got them off to a flier again. The two notched up another fifty-run stand before the former departed. Kane Williamson then walked in and he too stitched a decent stand with Guptill who finished with a ton. He was well supported by Taylor who brought up his 41st half ton in ODIs. The pair built a 112-run stand and while the two were batting the hosts were cruising. But once the centurion departed the Kiwis lost wickets in heaps and are atleast 30 runs short of where they would have wanted to be.
Excellent comeback by Pakistan! They have given only 66 runs in the last 10 overs which has not allowed New Zealand to run away with the game. The hosts though will be disappointed with their effort as at one stage they looked set to cross 300.
49.62
Aamer Yamin to Tim Southee. NOT OUT! Another extra run given by Pakistan! They have been sloppy towards the end. Southee drives the ball down towards long on. They run one but come back for a second as it is the last ball. The fielder fires a throw to the bowler who seems to have failed to collect the ball as he tries to dislodge the bails. Meanwhile Colin de Grandhomme puts in a dive. The umpire goes upstairs and replays show that Yamin has dislodged the bails without the ball in his hands. Two runs added to the total and NEW ZEALAND FINISH ON 271 FOR 7!
Another run out appeal referred upstairs again Colin de Grandhomme at the non-striker's end. Seems to be a formality as the batsman seems to be in.
49.52
Aamer Yamin to Tim Southee. In the air.. dropped! An excellent effort though by Amin! Southee lofts this low full toss on middle, uppishly towards deep mid-wicket. Umar in the deep runs to his left, dives but does not catch it. It would have been a sensational catch had he taken it. Nevertheless, he saves a boundary and the batsmen take two.

49.13
Aamer Yamin to Colin de Grandhomme. Sloppy from Pakistan! A full toss outside off, Colin throws the kitchen sink at it but only manages to get an outside edge down towards third man. They complete two. The throw is wayward and the keeper has no chance. There is nobody backing up and hence the batsmen take an overthrow.
Aamer Yamin to bowl the last over.
End of Over : 4910 RunsNZ: 262/7

The bowler is hurt here. The physio is out with the magic spray. He now seems okay to bowl.
48.31
Faheem Ashraf to Colin de Grandhomme. Dropped, technically! Great work by Ashraf, he though must have hurt himself in the process. He bowls a full ball on off, Colin hits it hard back towards him. He does really well to get down low in an attempt to catch that. But the ball hits his left palm and rolls to the off side. A run taken. He saves a boundary but must have done some damage to his hand in the process.

46.5W
Faheem Ashraf to Mitchell Santner. OUT! They are falling like a pack of cards here! Santner has been run out! Needless running. Santner pulls this short ball down towards wide long on. He completes one. Colin calls him for the second, Santner hesitates a bit but then continues running as his partner is going for it. He also runs wide and hence makes it more difficult for himself as he has to cover more area. The fielder, Nawaz, fires a throw to the keeper who whips the bails off and appeals. They go upstairs to check and replays show Santner is short. Two wickets in two balls for Pakistan and New Zealand are seven down now.
It is all happening out there! There is another appeal for a run out at the striker's end against Santner and they have gone upstairs. Looks to be short.
Mitchell Santner walks out at no. 8.
46.4W
Faheem Ashraf to Tom Latham. OUT! There is a mark on Hot Spot! Latham is the man walking back now. This is excellent bowling by Pakistan Faheem gets his second. He bowls a full ball outside off, Latham first tries to paddle it but seeing the line he tries to guide it down to third man. The ball seems to have taken the edge as the keeper catches it and appeals. The umpire shakes his head though. Sarfraz is pretty sure about it as he reviews it straightaway. Replays roll in and they show there is a mark on Hot Spot. The on-field call has to be overturned.

17.2W
Aamer Yamin to Kane Williamson. OUT! Catches don't come simpler than these! What was Williamson thinking here? This is so unlike him. Yamin slants it in on a length. Williamson looks to go to the on side and chooses the aerial route for the same. That's the mistake that he has done as he has picked out Umar Amin in the deep to perfection with the front foot pull-cum-heave. Kane knew it straightaway and put his head down in disgust. The flourishing 49-run stand is now cut off. Good time to strike for the visitors.

5.5W
Rumman Raees to Colin Munro. OUT! A wicket against the run of play here. Raees bowls a length ball just outside off, Munro plays one shot too many. Looks to go downtown with a big hit. Ends up mistiming it and the ball goes high in the air. Mid off and mid on both backtrack and it seems there might be some confusion regarding the calling. But Nawaz calls it well and takes it after getting there from the former position. On another look, it seemed that the ball bounced a touch more from that length and that proved to be the southpaw's undoing. Pakistan would be relieved with this breakthrough and would now look to bring things under control.
5.44
Rumman Raees to Colin Munro. FOUR! Short ball angling down leg, Munro stands tall and pulls it through backward square leg for a boundary. That's a nice way to bring up the 50-run stand between the two. Once again the Kiwis are off to a nice start here.
The umpires are not happy with Raees' followthrough. He seems to be treading on the danger area.
5.32
Rumman Raees to Colin Munro. Length ball outside off, guided through backward point. Yamin is slow to get to the ball and hence a double results. The skipper and the bowler aren't happy with this effort. To find faults here, Sarfraz wasn't up to the stumps and had he been there, a run out chance could have been there.

4.14
Aamer Yamin to Martin Guptill. FOUR! Ho, ho, ho, it's a beauty! The straight drives are lovely to watch in the sport. Overpitched in line of the stumps, Guptill just times his drive down the ground to perfection. No fielder can cut that off and a boundary results.

3.34
Rumman Raees to Colin Munro. FOUR! This is authoritative from Munro. Moves to 27 in no time here. Wide outside off but not too short. Colin cuts and cuts hard and manages to get it just over the leaping backward point fielder for a boundary. The Kiwis are off to a flier here.
3.24
Rumman Raees to Colin Munro. FOUR! Edged but runs! Full and outside off, Munro goes at it with all his might. Gets a thick outside edge past the lone slip fielder who is standing a bit wide and the ball races away to the third man fence.

2.60
Aamer Yamin to Martin Guptill. The batsman flicks it away with a wristy shot.
2.56
Aamer Yamin to Martin Guptill. SIX! What a shot! Was Guptill batting all the while before coming out here? Because this shot is one of a man in form and well set, but ironically, Martin gets off the mark with this. Full in line of the stumps, Guptill clears his front foot and hits it straight as an arrow. Gets half a dozen for that. Mind-boggling stuff.
2.41
Aamer Yamin to Colin Munro. Colin has punched the ball off the back foot. One run added to the total.
2.34
Aamer Yamin to Colin Munro. FOUR! Yamin changes angle but no change in the effect here. Comes round the wicket and hurls it on a length outside off. 2.20
Aamer Yamin to Colin Munro. Full outside off, Munro looks to smoke it through covers but misses.
2.14
Aamer Yamin to Colin Munro. FOUR! Bang goes Munro. He uses his feet to get down the track but fails to get to the pitch of the ball. Munro has already moved to 14 here.
End of Over : 210 RunsNZ: 13/0
1.60

1.40
Rumman Raees to Martin Guptill. This is outside off, left alone.
1.31
Rumman Raees to Colin Munro. This one is played through the point region for a single.
1.24
Rumman Raees to Colin Munro. FOUR! Another one now. Munro's moods seem clear and perilous for Pakistan. This is bowled on a length outside off, the width that he offered is a mistake. Munro cuts it over point and helps himself to yet another boundary. Back-to-back ones for Colin.
1.14
Rumman Raees to Colin Munro. FOUR! Runs straightaway off Raees' bowling. He bowls this full and outside off, Munro absolutely crashes it through covers to earn himself a boundary. This is the first of the game and should get the southpaw going.
The second new ball is in the hands of Rumman Raees. One slip in place.
End of Over : 13 RunsNZ: 3/0

0.40
Aamer Yamin to Colin Munro. Much better. Hurled on a fullish length just outside off, it swings away as well. Munro looks to play it on the up but misses due to the movement away. This is what Yamin should be bowling more.

Aamer Yamin to Martin Guptill. WIDE! Not the right line to start off for Yamin. Bowls it in line of the stumps and it swings down the leg side. Guptill watches it go towards the keeper. Ahmed dives to his left but fails to collect it and parries it further to his left. A bye also results. The Kiwis are off straightaway.
It's time for us to get underway. Martin Guptill and Colin Munro walk out with the bat. They'll hope to get the side off to a flier yet again. For Pakistan, Aamer Yamin to make use of the first new ball. Here we go...
TOSS - New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson calls it right at the toss and NEW ZEALAND WILL BAT FIRST. They make one change to their side, Matt Henry comes in for Trent Boult. There are three changes for Pakistan - Shoaib Malik, Hasan Ali and Mohammad Amir make way for Umar Amin, Mohammad Nawaz and Aamer Yamin. While Malik (head) and Ali (groin) are out due to injuries, Amir has been rested.
When the Asian side was scheduled to tour this nation, they'd put a better show than Windies in the preceding series was the general perception. Sadly for all, that hasn't been the case and now a whitewash in favour of the Kiwis looms. Shoaib Malik is out of this match after he got hit on the head in the previous ODI and who among Azhar Ali and Imam-ul-Haq gets a go will be interesting to see. For the hosts, Trent Boult won't participate in this game. Will it be 5-0 New Zealand or do we have a final flourish from Pakistan? Stay with us as we get you the teams and the toss in a while.
Often, things associated with life move in circles. This has been the same with Basin Reserve in Wellington. It played host to the first match of this ODI series and now here we are at the same venue to draw curtains to the 50-over contest. This is the fifth and the last ODI between New Zealand and Pakistan. We are glad to have you with us for our coverage. The previous game at this venue was a rain-affected one and we'd hope for the weather to stay clear, although it is a bit cloudy at the moment.
End of Over : 49.0PAK: 256/10
After largely expecting Pakistan to be a better opponent, they have treaded on the same path that the earlier visitors, Windies, did. A whitewash was among the least looked-forward to outcomes in this series but that's how much the gap was between the two sides. Stronger teams generally grab a mile when given an inch. But the tourists were given a mile on more than one occasion and they let it slip inch by inch. Now, there are the T20Is to look forward to. Will the visitors change the story-line then? Join us on the 22nd of January, 2017 at 1600 local time (0300 GMT) for the first of the three T20Is. Till then, take care, ta-ta! Meanwhile, that's not all for today with respect to the sport. You can switch tabs to catch all the action in the Australia-England ODI, where the hosts have put up a reasonable total on board or catch Sri Lanka take on Bangladesh at the latter's home in their tri-series encounter involving Zimbabwe.
Kane Williamson, the New Zealand skipper, says that the feeling of blanking an opposition 5-0 is great. Opines that the opponents gave tough fights and none of the wins were easy. About the wickets, he says they were on the slower side and that's where the Pakistan bowlers made life difficult for them. Lauds his slow bowlers for adapting to these conditions. States that it was frustrating today to not shut the game off (after having Pakistan 57/5). States that Matt Henry was raring to go and he has done well to have made the opportunity count. Mentions that he is looking forward to the T20Is as he opines they could be more competitive.
Sarfraz Ahmed, the Pakistan captain, credits the opposition for their performance. Rues his side's batting failures for the final outcome. Sounds optimistic about their bowling, stating that they have often got them in good positions in the series. Reckons that the youngsters will step up in the upcoming T20s. He is visibly disappointed with his team's performance as he walks away with a sulky face.
Martin Guptill is also the Player of the Series. He is interviewed again for the same. He says he was confident as he was coming on the back of a reasonable form in spite of returning from injury. States that they had to graft hard with the bat and that's what got them to good totals. Reckons that the opposition bowlers made it tough for them to get quick runs and tall scores.
Time for the presentation. First up is Martin Guptill, who has been adjudged the Man of the Match. He says that the new ball was skidding on and along with Colin Munro, they got off to a flying start. He hopes to continue having good partnerships with the southpaw, who plays an attacking brand of cricket. Adds that once the ball got older, it was tough to stroke it away. Insists his shoulder is alright.
Earlier in the match, Martin Guptill stroked his way to a magnificent hundred. It wasn't one of those innings where he gets after the bowlers and gives them a bashing, although it began with a huge hit from his blade. He stitched together a 112-run stand with Ross Taylor to give a good platform for the rest to capitalize on. But Pakistan's bowlers never let the final flourish come in as they picked up 66/5 in the last 10 overs. Rumman Raees and Faheem Ashraf picked up 5 among them to put brakes on the high-flying Kiwis.
The final outcome wouldn't have been possible if not for Matt Henry's crucial strikes early in the innings. He ended up with four wickets, thereby missing his fifer by not much. He was well supported by Mitchell Santner, who used his flight and guile to fox the batsmen.
However, what was on show from that position was something that is worth learning from for the others. Haris Sohail and Shadab Khan strung together a 105-run stand that came off 122 balls. If anything, this partnership gave the tourists an outside chance at having a shot at the target. Both of them notched up personal milestones by adding a half century each to their credit. Aamer Yamin, Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Nawaz chipped in with useful contribution towards the end. But lack of wickets at the death stymied their chances of getting a win on the tour. Picture this - the last five wickets added 199 for them and yet they ended 15 runs short of where they should have been at the end of the game.
Pakistan's bowlers restricted the New Zealand which seemed to be a surmountable score. But their batters made a hash of the run chase. As seen throughout the series, the base of chasing any total that is par or above is a good opening stand. The visitors have failed at stringing just that and it shows in the final outcome. None of the top order bats looked to stay out there and that shows in them slipping down to 57/5.
Wow! What a game we have had! It became too close for comfort in the end for New Zealand. Remember, sport is won on the field and not on paper or propositions. If only the top order batsmen had turned up... If only they hadn't been reckless in playing their shots... If only... Ifs and buts count for nothing. The better side won in the end, not before enthralling the fairly-good crowd in Wellington with some exciting brand of cricket.

46.2W
Lockie Ferguson to Mohammad Nawaz. OUT! Knocked him over! Length ball in line of the stumps at 148.9 kph, Nawaz sees the length and looks to play the big shot. He's caught off guard with the pace on that and ends up getting his stumps shattered. Perhaps, Ferguson vented his frustration at being wided on the previous ball with this high-paced stuff. The hosts are just one wicket away from 5-0 win now.
46.2wd

44.44
Lockie Ferguson to Mohammad Nawaz. FOUR! If the previous ball has power in it, this one has classical timing. Overpitched in line of the stumps, Nawaz drives it down the ground. His timing is such that Williamson at mid off doesn't stand a chance of cutting that off.

43.1W
Mitchell Santner to Faheem Ashraf. OUT! The batsman who have got their eyes in are intent on gifting away their wickets to Santner. After Sohail and Shadab, add Ashraf to the list. Sees this ball flighted, he gets down to slog sweep it over mid-wicket. Ends up skying it high. Southee gets to his right from mid-wicket and runs backwards towards mid on and takes it nicely. Length delivery well outside off, Yamin first makes room, but then reaches out to this delivery that is well away. Ends up getting a cue end just past the keeper for a boundary. Simon Doull on air says that Latham at least should have dived and given a try there.

37.2W
Mitchell Santner to Haris Sohail. OUT! Is this the striking blow served on Pakistan? Is this the scalp that helps New Zealand shut the game off? Santner, with his guile, ekes out a big scalp. He tosses it up brilliantly and asks Sohail to go big down the ground. The batter is so well set, that he thinks he can easily clear long on and get a maximum. Fails to counter for the lack of pace on this one and doesn't get to the pitch of the ball even after dancing down the track. Gets more height than distance and the ball travels straight to Henry stationed at long on. A very good innings from the southpaw comes to an end, the Kiwis are just 4 wickets away from a win here. Drinks are on the field now. 17 overs left in the game and Pakistan are still 140 runs away from their destination. They have only 5 wickets left. New Zealand vs Pakistan Highlights And Cricket Score 5th Match - ODI Commentary
Aamer Yamin to Tim Southee. In the air.. dropped! An excellent effort though by Amin! Southee lofts this low full toss on middle, uppishly towards deep mid-wicket.

Raees bowls a full ball on middle, Guptill clears his front leg and tries to go big. He does not time it and it goes straight towards long on where Hafeez takes a couple of steps ahead and catches it. Pakistan will be happy to see the back of the right-hander as he could be very dangerous towards the end. Kane Williamson, the Kiwi skipper, gets out to the middle next.

Rumman Raees to Martin Guptill. On a length outside off, Guptill slaps it through covers. The ball beats the fielder diving there. It, however, trickles away towards the fence, before which three runs are taken. The batters think about the fourth but decide against it seeing the throw coming in.

Aamer Yamin to Martin Guptill. The batsman flicks it away with a wristy shot.
Aamer Yamin to Colin Munro. Colin has punched the ball off the back foot. One run added to the total.
Aamer Yamin to Colin Munro. FOUR! Yamin changes angle but no change in the effect here. Comes round the wicket and hurls it on a length outside off. Aamer Yamin to Colin Munro. Full outside off, Munro looks to smoke it through covers but misses.
Aamer Yamin to Colin Munro. FOUR! Bang goes Munro. He uses his feet to get down the track but fails to get to the pitch of the ball. Still goes on with the hoick that he had planned and gets it off the inner half of his bat. That is enough contact made as the ball beats square leg and races away to the fence. Munro has already moved to 14 here.
Rumman Raees to Martin Guptill. Full around off, driven to covers. Costly start for Rumman.
Rumman Raees to Martin Guptill. This one is driven back towards the bowler.
Rumman Raees to Martin Guptill. WIDE! Length ball but down the leg side, Guptill looks to flick but misses.
Rumman Raees to Martin Guptill. This is outside off, left alone.
Rumman Raees to Colin Munro. This one is played through the point region for a single.
Aamer Yamin to Martin Guptill. This one is kept out towards mid off with a drive. Nice start for both the sides.
Aamer Yamin to Colin Munro. Munro looks to guide it towards third man but gets it off the outer edge to the same region to get off the mark.
Aamer Yamin to Colin Munro. Much better. Hurled on a fullish length just outside off, it swings away as well. Munro looks to play it on the up but misses due to the movement away. This is what Yamin should be bowling more.
Aamer Yamin to Colin Munro. This ball is cut away to backward point.
Aamer Yamin to Colin Munro. Length ball around off, punched away towards covers for nothing.
Aamer Yamin to Colin Munro. On a length around off, blocked from the crease.

Matt Henry to Rumman Raees. OUT! That's all! Raees gets a short ball in the line of the stumps, he looks to pull it away over deep mid-wicket. Ends up mistiming it and hitting it in the air. Ferguson runs to his right from long on and takes that one with ease. Never took his eyes off that. NEW ZEALAND WIN BY 15 RUNS AND TAKE THE SERIES 5-0!

Matt Henry to Aamer Yamin. FOUR! How many runs towards the end of this innings have come off the inside edge? We'll let you figure that out. Add this one to that list as Yamin squeezes this yorker off the inside edge to the fine leg fence. 19 required of 11.

Rumman Raees strides out to bat as the last batsman for Pakistan.
Lockie Ferguson to Mohammad Nawaz. WIDE! Slower bouncer in line of the stumps, Nawaz gets beaten by the lack of pace on that one. The umpire then decides to stretch his arms belatedly that surprises the Kiwis.

Lockie Ferguson to Mohammad Nawaz. Short in length, Nawaz goes for the pull. Top edges it towards mid-wicket. It lands in the no man's land and a couple taken.

Sees this ball flighted, he gets down to slog sweep it over mid-wicket. Ends up skying it high. Southee gets to his right from mid-wicket and runs backwards towards mid on and takes it nicely. These are not easy catches, mind you, but Tim has done really well. Pakistan slip further, they require 70 more off 41 balls, while the hosts just 2 wickets away.
Matt Henry to Faheem Ashraf. Played to the point region by the batsman. One run added to the total. 13 runs have come off this over. 70 more required off 42 balls now.
Matt Henry to Faheem Ashraf. SIX! This is a top edge, make no mistake. Yet it sails over the fence for a biggie. Bowled short in line of the stumps, it is slanting away from Ashraf. He gives it his all and goes for the pull. Gets a thick top edge that helps the ball sail over the fine leg fence for half a dozen.

Colin de Grandhomme to Faheem Ashraf. SIX! Bazoooka! What a shot this! It came out of nowhere. De Grandhomme bowls a slower one on a shorter length in line of the stumps. That traveled 88 metres in spite of it coming off the inner half. 9 runs off this over, 91 more needed.

Aamer Yamin walks in next.
Mitchell Santner to Shadab Khan. OUT! Mitchell Santner is making the right noises in this spell. He has picked up two wickets in two overs. What's more, he has got both the set batters out of here. Tosses it up well outside off, Shadab now cannot resist the temptation of coming down the track. Does so and looks to go inside out. Ends up getting a thick outside edge straight to short third man where Nicholls accepts a dolly. Another set batsman departs and now the end is nigh for Pakistan.

He runs to his right, stretches his hands out but fails to cling on. The batsmen take two and Zaman will now look to make most of this life.
Matt Henry to Fakhar Zaman. WOAH! Straight on the badge! That was quick from Henry. He bowls a bouncer, a well-directed one. Before Zaman could react the ball hits him on his helmet. The New Zealand players go up to him to ask him whether he is fine. Good gesture from the Kiwis.
