Even though Australia had an upper hand in the match, rain and Dinesh Chandimal's fighting knock extended the opposition's wait for the second Inning. Chandimal is still batting on 63, while rain washed out two sessions of the Day 3. 

It's stumps on day three. Even though the rain stopped the conditions were not feasible for play to resume. The umpires have decided to call it a day. Play will start at 9.45 am tomorrow. Australia picked up two wickets. 

Quite a few dark grey clouds around, and the whole ground is covered. For those wondering, tomorrow is also pretty wet by way of forecast. Though Sunday is rather more clear. 

There it is, we lost one complete session due to rain as play is yet to be resumed. Tea break is called to utilize 'lost time'. Play is expected to start at 2:50 PM 

The rain has actually ceased a little. The ground staff is called into action and is now slowly getting to work. There's plenty of water on the covers. Hopefully, we will get some live cricket action soon 

After the rain, the on-field Umpires decided to take a lunch break. Sadly after the lunch break also there is no positive sign of play.  

Rain playing the spoil-sport once again. For the third time in the match, rain halted the match. Lucking it happened at the end of the previous two days allowing a smooth flow of the game on give day.  

The Australia national cricket team is still in control of the match, dominating all seven sessions played till now. With just five more wickets in hand and trailing by  550+ runs, Sri Lanka might not be able to avoid follow-on   

After Kamindu Mendis' a dismissal Sri Lanka now has a fairly last-recognized batting pair in the middle.

After Australia dominated the first two days of the opening Test,  Sri Lanka needs to fight back with a strong batting performance on day 3. The side has already lost three wickets and is still behind by nearly 600 runs—a massive task in hand for Dinesh Chandimal and Kamindu Mendis.
