Chasing a challenging target of 204, Patel began his innings with clinical aggression. Promoting himself following his recent run of form, the Gujarat-born wicketkeeper-batter dismantled the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bowling attack from the outset.
His blitz included a sequence of five successive sixes against pacer Avesh Khan and spinner Digvesh Raithi. Patel reached 42 runs in just 10 balls before a brace and a single took him to 49. He eventually brought up his half-century on the 13th ball of the innings with a boundary toward cow corner, sending the Chepauk crowd into a frenzy.
Patel missed out on beating Yuvraj Singh's record as well, the second-fastest T20I fifty, taking 12 balls to reach the milestone.
