Seattle, December 18: Amazon CEO Andy Jassy announced a major leadership shake-up at the company, revealing that Rohit Prasad, head of Amazon’s AGI (artificial general intelligence) team and the driving force behind the Nova models, will depart at the end of the year. Prasad, who joined Amazon in 2013 to help develop Alexa, played a pivotal role in shaping the voice assistant into a platform serving hundreds of millions of customers worldwide. Pieter Abbeel to Take On Frontier Model Research as Rohit Prasad Departs Amazon

As part of the reorganisation, Pieter Abbeel, co-founder of Covariant and Amazon Distinguished Scientist in robotics, will lead the frontier model research team for AGI. Abbeel’s expertise in generative AI and reinforcement learning positions him to advance Amazon’s AI capabilities, while continuing his robotics research, as per the official post by Amazon.
