Samsung has begun rolling out One UI 9 (Android 17), starting with the Galaxy S26 series and latest foldables. The update introduces new Galaxy AI tools like Now Nudge and My FanCam, enhanced privacy controls and centralised device care settings. Older flagships will receive it in phases.
Samsung has officially launched its latest software iteration, One UI 9, built on top of Android 17. The stable update debuted alongside the latest foldable lineup and has begun rolling out globally, bringing a heavy focus on Galaxy AI enhancements, refined multitasking layouts, and deeper ecosystem controls.
Key New Features in Samsung One UI 9
Following cosmetic overhauls in prior versions, One UI 9 prioritizes practical artificial intelligence integration and user-interface optimization.
- Advanced Galaxy AI Tools: Features like Now Nudge offer real-time, context-based suggestions on your screen to help streamline tasks without manual app switching. Meanwhile, My FanCam automatically tracks and keeps a selected person centered during video recording.
- Redesigned Interface Elements: The Quick Settings and media player panels now feature flexible layouts, such as expandable 2x2 grids, alongside thicker, easier-to-use brightness and volume sliders.
- Productivity and Hardware Additions: Samsung Notes introduces creative text redaction features using customizable patterns. Gamers also gain a bypass charging option within the gaming menu to protect battery health during extended play sessions.
- Centralized Device Care: Warranty tracking, diagnostics tools, repair estimates, and Samsung Care+ management have been consolidated directly into the main Settings menu.
Supported Smartphones and Rollout Timeline
The stable version of One UI 9 first shipped pre-installed on the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Z Flip 8.
The wider phased rollout for existing smartphones kicked off with the Galaxy S26 series (S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra). According to regional schedules, the update is expanding to the Galaxy S25 series and recent foldable generations, with broader deployment for the Galaxy S24, S23, and select mid-range A-series and M-series devices scheduled later in the year.
