US-based software firm ServiceNow has eliminated hundreds of positions worldwide as part of an organisational restructuring aimed at streamlining operations and boosting efficiency. While the enterprise software giant has not disclosed exact headcount figures, representatives confirmed that the workforce reduction affects a "low single-digit" percentage of its global staff. The cuts form part of a strategic shift to trim legacy roles while expanding recruitment in artificial intelligence.
Workforce Restructuring and Executive Guidance
ServiceNow closed out 2025 with approximately 29,187 employees and later grew its headcount to around 30,000. Despite the ongoing adjustments, Chief Executive Officer Bill McDermott has previously indicated that the company expects to finish 2026 with roughly the same number of employees it began with. "ServiceNow is committed to having the right talent in the right roles, and that means making necessary changes to how we are structured," the company said in an official statement. The firm added that it is actively investing in AI-focused skills and managing overall headcount with discipline to maintain its year-end projections.
Employee Experiences and Sudden Notifications
Impacted workers took to online platforms like Reddit to share details of the abrupt transition. One employee reported receiving a termination notice unexpectedly. "I woke up and saw a ServiceNow separation notice in my personal email account received at 6:53 am without warning. Yesterday I stayed up late to respond to a couple of P2 customer cases, still have a few to go, was thinking to get up early to finish them," the employee wrote on Reddit. According to the post, the worker's final day was July 28, with the official termination date scheduled for September 28, pending formal severance details.
Other workers based in international offices described structured notification processes. An employee in Dublin noted that management convened a restricted virtual call where participant cameras and audio were disabled, leaving attendees unable to gauge the scale of the meeting or identify affected departments. Employees were subsequently informed that a regional consultation period would follow. India Today Layoffs: Nearly 120 Employees Asked To Resign in ‘Restructuring’, Says Report.
Scale of Reductions and Strategic Pivot
Unverified employee estimates circulating online suggest the scope of the cuts could be substantial, with some claims pointing to widespread reductions across international markets, including teams in India. ServiceNow has emphasised that the restructuring is not a broad contraction, but rather a realignment to prioritise technical growth areas. The company is actively cutting select positions while opening new roles dedicated to artificial intelligence development and deployment.
