The Trade Desk Layoffs: Ad-Tech Giant Cuts 15% of Workforce in Global Restructuring
Digital advertising firm The Trade Desk has announced a 15 percent global workforce reduction as part of a strategic restructuring aimed at shifting toward more agile operational teams. 'While this is a common practice in big tech, this has not been a common practice at TTD. We don't expect it to become one,' CEO Jeff Green said.
Digital advertising giant The Trade Desk has announced a major restructuring plan that will reduce its global workforce by approximately 15 per cent. In a communication to employees and an accompanying regulatory filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the company confirmed that the layoffs took effect globally. The organisational realignment is slated to be substantially completed during the third quarter of 2026.
The company estimates it will incur cash restructuring and related charges ranging between USD 39 million and USD 51 million, largely dedicated to severance packages and employee benefits, reports The Current. These expenses are expected to be partially offset by an estimated USD 4 million to usd 5 million reversal related to stock-based compensation. Strategic Realignment and Leadership Rationale
Chief Executive Officer Jeff Green addressed the changes in a note to staff, describing the move as an effort to pivot toward smaller, more focused operational pods and agile scrums. "This was a difficult decision that we have not taken lightly. While this is a common practice in big tech, this has not been a common practice at TTD. We don't expect it to become one,” Green stated. Oracle Layoffs 2026: No 6 AM Mass Email on September 1, Job Cuts Roll Out Team by Team.
Management noted that the structural changes are designed to improve operational effectiveness and direct resources toward high-priority growth areas within the independent ad-tech ecosystem. Despite the workforce reduction, leadership emphasised that the firm maintains a strong balance sheet to support its ongoing operations.
