A 58-year-old California man has been sentenced to 151 months - equivalent to over 12 years - in federal prison for distributing sadistic child s*xual abuse material across the dark web. James David Johnson of Santee, California, received the sentence on Friday, September 11, followed by 10 years of supervised release. Dark Web Distribution and Staff Role

According to court documents, Johnson was an active participant in at least five dark web communities dedicated to child s*xual exploitation and the distribution of illicit material, reports the US Department of Justice. Investigators noted that Johnson rose through the ranks to become a high-ranking staff member on a specific dark web platform that focused heavily on content depicting children subjected to pain and suffering.

Investigation and Evidence Seizure

The case was investigated by the FBI’s San Diego Field Office and the Child Exploitation Operational Section. During the operation, federal agents executed search warrants at Johnson's residence and workplace, seizing computer devices that contained more than 2,60,000 images and videos of apparent child exploitation, alongside autopsy and crime-scene photographs depicting deceased children. Project Safe Childhood Initiative

The proceedings were brought forward under Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006.
