A 22-year-old Florida man, Dhir Patel, has been arrested on grand theft charges after allegedly stealing designer clothing worth up to USD 60,000 from a high-end store in Miami's Wynwood neighborhood over several months.

According to investigators with the Miami Police Department (MPD), Patel is accused of repeatedly visiting the store between March 30 and last Monday, allegedly stealing merchandise while posing as a regular customer. Authorities said he continued returning to the store despite the alleged thefts, helping investigators track his movements through surveillance footage. Dhaval Amratbhai Patel Case: Indian-Origin Man Living Illegally in US Assaults Man With Baseball Bat After Argument; Arrested.

Store Owner Noticed Expensive Items Missing

The investigation began after the store owner discovered that several costly designer items had gone missing from inventory. A review of CCTV footage allegedly showed Patel concealing clothing items inside a bag he brought with him during multiple visits.

According to the MPD arrest report, Patel would walk through the store selecting merchandise before allegedly hiding items in his bag. Detectives said surveillance footage captured the suspected thefts, which took place over an extended period.

Investigators initially estimated that Patel had stolen approximately USD 41,550 worth of designer goods. Who Is Sanjay Kaushik? Delhi Businessman Jailed in US for Illegally Exporting Aviation Technology to Russia.

Losses May Be Higher Than Initial Estimate

Store owner Louis Negrich later said a detailed inventory review suggested the total losses could be significantly higher than originally believed.

"We originally started at USD 41,000. Since we've calculated it up, it's about USD 55,000 to USD 60,000 now," Negrich told Local 10 News.

According to the owner, Patel occasionally purchased items from the store and also visited to sell merchandise. As a result, his repeated visits did not initially raise suspicion among employees.

Arrested After Returning to Store

Police said Patel was arrested on Saturday after he returned to the store to sell additional items. Authorities stated that he later made a confession, although details of the statement were redacted from the publicly released arrest report.

"Just don't steal. It's just as simple as that. Everything comes back to bite you," Negrich said following the arrest.

Released on Bond

Court records show that Patel, a resident of Boynton Beach, Florida, was released from jail after posting a USD 5,000 bond.

The case remains under investigation. Authorities have not indicated whether additional charges may be filed as they continue examining the alleged thefts and the total value of missing merchandise.
