Layoffs: Real Food From The Ground Up Plant to Close in US, 93 Jobs Cut
Real Food From The Ground Up's manufacturing plant in Conover, North Carolina, will permanently close on December 16, 2026, eliminating 93 jobs. Operated by Powered by FTGU LLC under parent company Our Home, the shutdown follows planned closures in Pennsylvania and an earlier warehouse closure in Las Vegas as the company restructures its US manufacturing network.
A manufacturing plant producing plant-based snacks under the Real Food From The Ground Up brand will permanently shut down its operations in Conover, North Carolina, on December 16, 2026. Located approximately 50 miles north of Charlotte on Somerset Drive NW in Catawba County, the closure of the facility will eliminate 93 local jobs.
The plant shutdown was formally disclosed through a state Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filing. As per a report by Hoodline, the regulatory notice was submitted on October 19 to satisfy federal statutory requirements mandating at least 60 calendar days of advance written notice for mass layoffs and facility closures. Corporate Parent and Brand Operations
The Conover facility is operated by Powered by FTGU LLC, an entity producing veggie-based pretzels, stalks, cauliflower chips, and crackers for Real Food From The Ground Up. The consumer brand operates under the corporate umbrella of Our Home, a privately held consumer packaged goods company headquartered in New Jersey whose portfolio also includes Popchips, Pop Secret, Food Should Taste Good, and You Need This.
Neither Powered by FTGU LLC nor parent firm Our Home has issued public statements detailing the financial or operational factors driving the Conover decision. The affected workforce of 93 employees will remain at the site until the scheduled December 16 shutdown date.
Broader Manufacturing Footprint Restructuring
The North Carolina closure represents the latest step in a wider consolidation of Our Home's manufacturing network across the United States. Earlier in the month, Powered by FTGU LLC submitted a WARN notice in Pennsylvania confirming the closure of its Lititz manufacturing site on December 14, a move affecting 67 workers. These East Coast facility closures follow an earlier shutdown in Nevada, where the company shuttered a 63,000-square-foot Las Vegas warehouse facility in August, eliminating 61 full-time roles. The regional sites were previously integrated into Our Home's production footprint through major corporate acquisitions, including a USD 182.5 million transaction with Utz Brands Inc. in 2024.
