Details of the Allegations
Court documents allege that Cranmer exposed her genitals to the child and permitted the child to touch them while recording the act on her phone in May. The heavily redacted documents identify the victim as a 2-year-old child who was in diapers at the time. Cranmer was 23 years older than the victim when the alleged incident occurred.
Living Arrangement and Phone Discovery
An affidavit of probable cause states that Cranmer "needed somewhere to live" and had been staying with the child's family for about three months. While she did not formally babysit, she would sometimes watch the child when family members were occupied with other tasks. In April, a woman in the household gave Cranmer a new iPhone for her birthday. Cranmer moved out about two weeks before the investigation began, but the family asked for the phone's return. When she complied, the Snapchat video was discovered, prompting police involvement. Court Proceedings and Charges
Cranmer faced a detention hearing on July 14. She is currently being held in the Ocean County Jail without bail pending trial. S*xual assault and manufacturing child s*xual abuse material are second-degree crimes, each carrying potential prison terms of five to 10 years upon conviction. The endangering the welfare of a child and possession charges are third-degree crimes, punishable by up to five years in prison. All charges are allegations, and Cranmer is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. It was not immediately clear if she has retained an attorney.
