In response, Chennai Super Kings won the match with five balls to spare. Ruturaj Gaikwad struck a quickfire 53 off 26 and Rachin Ravindra's patient 65* off 45 deliveries was enough to see CSK home. For Mumbai Indians, young spinner Vignesh Puthur made a memorable debut, taking three wickets but his effort ultimately went in vain. Noor Ahmad was adjudged Man of the Match.
