Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Chennai Super Kings by 50 runs in IPL 2025 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on March 28. Batting first, Royal Challengers Bengaluru powered their way to a strong total of 196/7.  Rajat Patidar scored a half-century. Phil Salt, Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli also contributed. Noor Ahmad was the best bowler for Chennai Super Kings, picking up three wickets (3/36) which included dismissing Phil Salt, Virat Kohli and Liam Livingstone. Young pacer Matheesha Pathirana also took two wickets. In response, Chennai Super Kings could only score 146/8. Rachin Ravindra (41 off 31) and MS Dhoni (30 off 16) were the only ones who could put up a resistance as Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the match by 50 runs. This was Royal Challengers Bengaluru's second win in IPL 2025 and their first against CSK at Chennai in the IPL since 2008. Rajat Patidar was named Player of the Match for his splendid 51.
