Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Delhi Capitals by 14 runs in IPL 2025 clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on April 29. Delhi Capitals won the toss and opted to bowl first. Kolkata Knight Riders were off to a strong start as they scored 48 runs in the first three overs. After Mitchell Starc (3/43) dismissed Rahmanullah Gurbaz (26), Ajinkya Rahane (26) and Sunil Narine (27) powered Kolkata Knight Riders to 79/1 in the powerplay. Just after the powerplay, Delhi Capitals came back into the game with Vipraj Nigam (2/41) dismissing Sunil Narine and Axar Patel (2/27) scalping the wickets of Ajinkya Rahane and Venkatesh Iyer (7). As Kolkata Knight Riders were nearing a collapse again, Angkrish Raghuvanshi (44) and Rinku Singh (36) stitched a 61-run partnership, giving a foundation to the finishers. After they were dismissed by Dushmantha Chameera (1/46) and Vipraj Nigam, Andre Russell (17) looked to give the Kolkata Knight Riders a strong finish. Following a chaotic last over from Mitchell Starc, which saw three wickets fall, Kolkata Knight Riders got to 204/9. In response, Delhi Capitals lost Abishek Porel early to Anukul Roy (1/27). After a while, Vaibhav Arora (1/19) dismissed Karun Nair (15) and Sunil Narine ran out KL Rahul (7). Faf du Plessis (62) stitched a steady partnership with Axar Patel (43) under pressure and from 60/3 took Delhi Capitals to 136/4. Sunil Narine (3/29) dismissed Axar Patel and Tristan Stubbs in one over and scalped the wicket of Faf du Plessis in the next over to turn the game on its head. KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane was injured and left the field and Sunil Narine stepped in as the stand-in skipper. He brought on Varun Chakaravarthy (2/39), who dismissed Ashutosh Sharma and Mitchell Starc. Although Vipraj Nigam (38) tried his best, Andre Russell (1/22) cleaned him up to secure a victory for the Kolkata Knight Riders. This is the fourth victory for Kolkata Knight Riders and fourth loss for Delhi Capitals.
