However, the performance was cut short when a police officer intervened, reportedly due to a lack of prior permission. Addressing the incident, Sheeran clarified, “We had permission to busk, btw, hence us playing in that exact spot-it was planned out before. It wasn’t just us randomly turning up.” A viral video shows the moment he started singing an unplugged version of Shape of You, only for the officer to step in and disconnect the speakers, leaving the crowd stunned.
