A distressing video circulating online shows an army personnel brutally killing a stray dog within the army camp area in Pallavaram, Chennai, on April 06. The accused was identified as A. Paidu Raju, a Lance Havildar of the 16 Madras Regiment. The footage depicts Raju mercilessly thrashing the defenseless canine with a stick until it collapsed and died in agonizing pain. An NGO called "People for Animals" alleged that Raju threatened onlookers who attempted to intervene. Deeming him a "danger to society," the NGO urgently appealed to the Indian Army for his removal, emphasizing that such cruelty cannot be ignored.
