A Lieutenant Colonel of the Indian Army, Ritesh Kumar Singh, assaulted four SpiceJet staff at Srinagar Airport on July 26, 2025, after an altercation over excess baggage. Singh tried to board with two cabin bags weighing 16kg, exceeding the 7kg limit, and refused to pay extra fees. He attempted to forcibly enter the aerobridge, breaching security protocols. CISF intervened, but Singh violently attacked staff with punches, kicks and a queue stand, causing serious injuries including spinal fracture and jaw injuries. SpiceJet filed an FIR and initiated steps to place him on a no-fly list. The Indian Army is cooperating with the investigation. Singh also filed an FIR, alleging mistreatment and missing his flight.
