International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women is a global event designated by the United Nations General Assembly. It is observed on November 25 every year and this day aims to raise awareness about how women are subjected to rape, domestic violence and other forms of violence across the world. To highlight these issues of crimes and violence against women, the UN has encouraged governments, international organisations and NGOs to hold events and programmes so this issue can be highlighted among more people to prevent such acts.
