The iconic Jama Masjid has been closed again starting 8 pm on June 11 till June 30. The announcement was made by the mosque's Shahi Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari just three days after the mosque reopened. The decision has been taken amid the rising number of coronavirus cases in the national capital. The Shahi Imam's announcement comes two days after his secretary Amanullah died due to coronavirus at the government-run Safdarjung Hospital. Bukhari has also appealed to all mosques in the country to consider closing for now with COVID-19 cases rising in the country. Jama Masjid had reopened on June 8 after staying closed for over two months with the government allowing further relaxations in lockdown curbs as part of 'Unlock-1'. The number of cases in Delhi has reached 34,687 with 1,085 deaths. Meanwhile, Sabarimala Temple will not be opened for public for the monthly Pooja from June 14 and the temple festival on June 19 will also be cancelled. Kerala's Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran informed about the decision on June 11
