External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in a three day visit to China. The MEA stated that the India-China relationship had a unique place in global politics. During the meet, India maintained that Jammu and Kashmir was an integral part of the country and the issue was strictly an internal one. China, after the meet issued two separate statements outlining its position on Ladakh and, Jammu and Kashmir.
