This year’s first solar eclipse will occur on June 21. This will be an annular solar eclipse, during which the Moon will cover the Sun from the centre leaving a ring of light visible in the sky. An annular, ring of fire solar eclipse occurs when the Moon is at one of its farthest positions from Earth. The Moon’s relative size does not cover the Sun completely when viewed from Earth. The June 21 solar eclipse will start at 9:15 AM IST and will go on until 3:04 PM IST. The maximum eclipse will take place at 12:10 IST.
