Sri Lanka Crisis: Ranil Wickremesinghe Highlights Challenges After Being Sworn-In, Says Fuel Reserves Down To One Day, Power Cuts Could Go Up To 15 Hours

On May 16, Ranil Wickremesinghe, Sri Lankan Prime Minister said the nation's economy was in a precarious condition. He tweeted saying, “The next couple of months will be the most difficult ones of our lives.” Wickremesinghe said the cash-strapped island nation was currently out of petrol. The Prime Minister said that the nation had petrol stocks for a single day. Wickremesinghe said that power outages will increase to 15 hours a day. He also said that there is a severe shortage of medicine and surgical equipment. In the end, the Sri Lankan Prime Minister tweeted, “In the coming months, our foreign allies will assist us. They have already pledged their support.” Watch the video to know more.
