Times listed are local time in Sweden. This year, each Nobel comes with a nine million kronor (USD 1.01-million) prize money which will be shared if several laureates are honoured in the same discipline. In addition to recognition, the new Nobel Laureates will be awarded a Nobel medal and money. Last year, the prize was 9 million Swedish Krona ($1 million), which was split among three winners.
This year the Academy is embroiled in several controversies. One of the issues are six of the Academy's 18 members who were appointed for life do not actively participate. Conflict of interest is among major problems within the Academy. The Nobel Foundation which handles the finances and administration of the Noble Prizes hopes that the Academy will get back together for the event in 2019. Meanwhile, names of various potential winners are going around as everywhere eagerly waits to know the awardees.
