More Rain Forecast in Bangkok
Thailand’s Meteorological Department said Bangkok and surrounding areas could continue to experience widespread thunderstorms and isolated heavy rain on September 27. The forecast puts temperatures in Bangkok between 23°C and 29°C, with southerly winds of 10–25 km/h.
A separate weather advisory warned of continued rainfall and isolated heavy to very heavy rain in the Central region, including Bangkok and nearby areas. Authorities cautioned that accumulated rainfall could lead to flash flooding and overflows, particularly around waterways and low-lying areas. Rain Expected to Ease From Monday
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration said additional rain was expected through Sunday, but conditions were forecast to begin tapering from Monday. Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt has urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel while several roads remain flooded.
Thousands Remain in Shelters
Nearly 4,900 people have been moved to temporary shelters, while around 52,000 households have been affected. At one shelter in the Kheha Romklao area, about 1,000 people were reported to have taken refuge. Hundreds of schools are also expected to remain closed on Monday as authorities assess local conditions.
Travel and Transport Situation
Despite localised flooding, Bangkok’s two major airports — Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang — remain operational. The Airport Rail Link, BTS, MRT and Red Line services are also operating, although travellers have been advised to allow additional time because some roads remain affected. Authorities continue to monitor rainfall, canal levels and flood-prone areas as Bangkok waits for the current spell of severe weather to ease.
