Kirandeep Kaur, a 24-year-old mother who moved to the UK in 2024, was killed on the morning of July 12. She was reportedly attacked by a stranger while sleeping in her home in Hayes alongside her husband and their three-month-old baby.
As per a report by ITV News, the victim’s family, based in the Tarn Taran district of Punjab, have expressed their profound devastation and are pleading for government assistance to bring her body home for final rites. Random Attack on Family Home
The incident has shocked the local community. According to court proceedings at the Old Bailey, the suspect, 46-year-old Daniel Sean James, had allegedly been seen on CCTV walking through a nearby playing field dressed in black and wielding a large knife before approaching multiple addresses.
The prosecutor detailed how James allegedly broke into the home on Uxbridge Road at approximately 7.51am. The victim’s husband was awoken by a scream, only to see a figure leaving the bedroom. James reportedly fled the property two minutes later by jumping from a kitchen window, which resulted in him sustaining broken ankles. He was apprehended by police shortly thereafter.
Legal Proceedings and Community Response
Daniel Sean James, of Mercer Place, Pinner, has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and possession of a bladed article. He appeared at the Old Bailey via video link on Thursday, where Judge Nigel Lickley KC remanded him into custody. A plea hearing is scheduled for October 1, with a provisional three-week trial set to begin on April 5 next year. In the wake of the tragedy, the local community has rallied to support the family. A GoFundMe page organised by the Sri Guru Singh Sabha Southall Gurdwara has raised over £34,600 to assist with funeral arrangements and the costs of repatriating Ms Kaur’s body to her village in India. Protests against violence have also been held in Hayes, with hundreds gathering to express solidarity and demand justice for the young mother.
