Qantas Flight Diverted to Tahiti After Unruly Passenger Bites Flight Attendant on Melbourne to Dallas Route

A routine 18-hour Qantas flight from Melbourne to Dallas turned into a mid-Pacific emergency after a drunk passenger bit a flight attendant and a fellow traveller, forcing the plane to make an unscheduled landing in Tahiti.

The incident unfolded on Friday, May 15, when the passenger emerged from the bathroom appearing heavily intoxicated with 11 hours still left in the flight. Video shared on Facebook by comedian Mike Goldstein shows the man stumbling out while still fastening his belt, slurring his speech and using abusive language toward crew members despite repeated warnings. Copa Airlines Passengers Hauled Off Plane After ‘Having S*x in Their Seats’ in Business Class.

The situation escalated quickly. The man removed his glasses, became physically aggressive, and allegedly bit two people including a flight attendant and a fellow passenger who had stepped in to help restrain him. Crew members were unable to de-escalate the confrontation, leaving the captain with no option but to divert the aircraft to Papeete, Tahiti.

Upon landing, local authorities met the plane on the tarmac and escorted the disruptive passenger off the aircraft. Qantas immediately issued him a permanent no-fly ban. British Airways Pilot Arrested for Allegedly Filming S*x Encounters With 16 Women, Sharing Videos Online.

"The safety of our customers and our crew is our number one priority and we have zero tolerance for disruptive or threatening behavior on our flights," a Qantas spokesperson stated.

The remaining passengers faced a lengthy delay as the aircraft was refuelled before resuming its journey to Dallas, arriving several hours behind schedule on Saturday morning.

The incident adds to a growing pattern of unruly passenger behaviour on long-haul international flights, raising fresh questions about alcohol service policies and crew safety protocols on extended routes.
