Ending the high-stake electoral campaign, President Donald Trump in his final statements claimed that the Democrats have turned into a "radicalised group" which will turn the US into a criminals' and migrants' den if granted a majority.

Trump's election campaign has largely been centred around his anti-immigration stand, along with the rise in employment and growth in economy over the past two years. The President claimed that his "America First" policy has "immensely benefited" all stratas of the US society.

In order to implement his vision unabated, Trump said he requires a brute Republican majority in the Senate as well as the House of Representatives. "Then we will have the great wall which will end the influx of drugs and criminals from Mexico," he said.

On the Democrats' side, the campaign came to a close with former president Barack Obama's marquee rally in Northern Virginia, where he appealed the electorate to uphold and safeguard the American values by voting against the party which has shown leaning towards fascism. His remarks were a veiled jibe at the Donald Trump-led Republicans.

"America is at a crossroads. The character of our country is on the ballot," Obama said, appealing the voters to support the Democrats.
