Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], Mar 3 (ANI): Chief Electoral Officer on Sunday informed that 45 FIRs were filed across the state regarding deletion of names in the voters' list. The FIRs are registered under sections 120 B, 419, 420, 465 and 471 of Indian Penal Code (IPC), Sections 66, 66D of IT Act and Section 31 of Representation of the People Act and have been filed in 9 districtsChief Electoral Officer Gopal Krishna Dwivedi informed that the agency is taking help of C-DAC to identify the origin of these applications and hence, further investigation can take place in the matter.This comes after it was brought to the EC’s notice that certain mischievous people are submitting Form-7 seeking deletion of the names in the voter's list by the online method, even though the voters exist, and they do not have any knowledge of such applications. He also called this a mischievous act and ensured that police is initiating criminal action against those who would be found guilty. “District Collectors were advised to lodge F.I.R for such mischief,” he added.“I would once again like to assure all the voters in the State that no deletions are possible by these kinds of bogus applications. Any deletion is done only after detailed inquiry and verification and after ascertaining the genuineness of the application,” Dwivedi said in a press statement. (ANI)
