Noida (UP), Aug 14 (PTI) Disciplinary action was initiated against three police constables today in Gautam Buddh Nagar over a report of alleged corruption, police said.

Taking note of a sting operation by a television news channel, Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Pal Singh transferred the constables to Police Lines, they said.

The district police chief has also initiated a departmental inquiry into the case, they said.

The constables transferred are Amit Kumar of Sector 20 police station, Rahul Kumar of Sector 39 police station and Dharmavir Singh of Ecotech I police station, according to a statement.

They were purportedly seen demanding bribe for police verification, the statement said.

When contacted, a police spokesperson said there were no previous complaints of bribe against them.

"The action has been taken solely on the basis of this report," the official said.

In light of the graft report, SSP Sharma also pulled up the incharges of the police stations concerned.

"The SSP has warned them of strict action and asked them to put a check on such practices," the police said.
