Exec Engineer Suspended for 'dereliction of Duties': SDMC

An executive engineer in the South Delhi Municipal Corporation was today suspended after he allegedly did not follow the procedure of sealing and desealing of establishments as laid down by the Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committee, the civic body said.

New Delhi, Jul 10 (PTI) An executive engineer in the South Delhi Municipal Corporation was today suspended after he allegedly did not follow the procedure of sealing and desealing of establishments as laid down by the Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committee, the civic body said.

"The suspension has been approved by the municipal commissioner as per the provisions in the service rules. It has been decided to initiate major penalty proceedings against the suspended official," the SDMC said in a statement.

The civic body's central zone official was suspended for dereliction of duties as he did not followed the committee's laid down procedure for sealing and desealing of establishments. it said.

The official has been suspended on the directions of the apex court-appointed monitoring committee.

The commissioner said that dereliction of duties in sealing and desealing procedure in any case "will not be tolerated".

The sealing drive as per the instructions of the committee had started in last December with action taken against several shops an restaurants at Defence Colony Market.
