Favourites Pradhan, Urwashi Enter Final of Squash Tournament

Mumbai, Jul 11 (PTI) Top seed Abhishek Pradhan and second seed Abhishek Agarwal steamrolled their respective rivals to set up the mens title clash of the GSC-All India Squash Open here Thursday.

On a day when almost all the favourites in different age groups justified their standing, Pradhan defeated his Maharashtra teammate Aishwary Singh 11-9, 11-5, 11-3 in straight games.

Agarwal, also from Maharashtra, outplayed his state mate Rohit Kadam 11-4, 11-3, 11-7 to breeze into the summit clash at the suburban Goregaon Sports Club.

In the women's section, top seed Urwashi Joshi, of Maharashtra, defeated her state mate Prapti Salunke 11-3, 11- 6, 11-3 in the semi-final round.

She will take on Maharashtra's Navmi Sharma, who routed Mehak Gupta, also from the host state, 11-0, 11-1, 11-4 in the semi-final.

The boys under-19 event saw Advait Adik of Maharashtra toppling the top seed Araash Mehta, also from Maharashtra,11- 3, 11-4, 11-5.

Boys U-19: Prithi Singh (CH) bt (2)- Avinash Yadav (MH) 11-6, 11-4, 11-5; Advait Adik (MH) bt (1)- Araash Mehta (MH) 11-3, 11-4, 11-5.

Boys U-17: Arman Darukhanwalla (MH) bt Jay Vaknalli (MH) 7-11, 11-6, 5-11, 11-8, 11-5; (2)- Mohit Bhatt (MH) bt Arnav Mandhana (MH) 9-11,11-4, 11-5, 11-9.
