Chandigarh, Sep 19 (PTI) The Haryana government's Home department Wednesday issued orders regarding retirement of Director General of Police B S Sandhu, but withdrew these hours later after realising the faux pas.

Instead, the state government is considering giving extension to the officer.

"The orders issued vide..regarding retirement of B S Sandhu, DGP, Haryana, from government service from with effect from September 30, 2018 on attaining the age of superannuation is hereby withdrawn," said an order issued by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) S S Prasad on Wednesday evening.

Notably, the DGP was set to attain superannuation on September 30, but the state government had recently sent a communication to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs seeking extension in service for Sandhu.

The retirement order issued earlier in the day was withdrawn by the Home Department after realising the faux pas.
