Pune (Maharashtra) [India], August 2 (ANI): In a shocking incident in Maharashtra, Girija Ganesh Shinde, a 3.5-year-old girl, died on the spot when a damaged iron gate fell on her while she was playing with friends.
The incident happened on Wednesday at around 4 pm in Bopkhel, Pimpri-Chinchwad. The heavy iron gate fell on the deceased when another child tried to pull it.
The girl suffered severe injuries, according to the officials.
Speaking on the incident, DCP Shivaji Pawar said, "A 3.5-year-old girl, Girija Ganesh Shinde, died on the spot when a heavy iron gate fell on her while she was playing with friends on 31st July. The incident occurred in Bopkhel, Pimpri-Chinchwad. The gate fell on the deceased when another child tried to pull it. We have registered an Accidental Death Report and will investigate the case."
The official further stated, "The deceased child's parents are in a state of shock. They will come to us after carrying out their child's last rites. The CCTV footage which captured the incident will also be used to investigate the matter further."
