New Delhi [India], September 28 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah condoled the death of Agricultural scientist MS Swaminathan and called him a legendary figure in India's economic history who transformed India’s agriculture sector.

Taking to the social media platform ‘X’, Shah wrote “Deeply anguished to learn about the passing away of Dr. MS Swaminathan Ji. A legendary figure in India's economic history Swaminathan Ji led a journey of transforming our agriculture sector by introducing the nation to the true power of its farmers.

 “A scientific genius in his own right Swaminathan Ji harnessed the power of science to set the wheel of economic growth of our nation in motion. As we bid farewell to the icon, I extend my sincerest condolences to his family and followers. Om Shanti Shanti,” Shah added in his post.

Born on August 7, 1925, in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, Mankombu Sambasivan Swaminathan, fondly known as MS Swaminathan, leaves behind a legacy that has forever altered the landscape of Indian agriculture and global food security.

Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu also expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Swaminathan, who is widely known as the Father of India's Green Revolution.

The Chief Minister in his condolence message said that Dr. Swaminathan was a renowned scientist and pioneer of India's green revolution and always wanted to see the nation progress. He prayed for peace for the departed soul and strength for the family members. (ANI)
