Guwahati (Assam) [India], October 11 (ANI): Guwahati city police recovered and seized 2640 kg of ganja from an oil tanker and apprehended two persons.

Based on secret information, Guwahati city police on the intervening night of October 10 and 11 intercepted an oil tanker at the Basistha area in Guwahati.

Diganta Borah, Commissioner of Police, Guwahati said "On the intervening night of October 10 and 11, a huge quantity of suspected ganja loaded in an oil tanker bearing registration number NL-01AH-0501 coming from Meghalaya side towards Basistha, was recovered and seized by a joint team of Central Police District and East Police District,"

"Total 2640 kg of suspected ganja in 134 packets were found inside the oil tanker which were hidden in the secret chamber," Diganta Borah said.

Two divers Kasim Ali and Mukut Ali were apprehended.

A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
